Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 167

“Grandma, don’t worry so much. The house has underfloor heating and a central climate control system—there’s no way you’ll get cold, and not even a draft can get in.” Marico walked into the foyer, tapping the wall-mounted screen to activate the smart home system.

“Come on in, Grandma! I’ve got a puppy now—he’s so much fun.” Yvonne turned around, scooping up Coco, who had been trailing behind her.

The second Mrs. Hamilton saw the tiny, fluffy bundle, she let out a delighted gasp.

“Marico was always the one who hated having pets around—said they were dirty and full of germs. But look at this! If he’s letting you keep a dog, I guess his so-called principles aren’t set in stone after all.” She reached out, eager to pet Coco.

The old lady had always had a soft spot for small pets. They were cuddly, loyal, and caring for them was almost like having a child in the house—a source of comfort, really.

Yvonne gently set Coco into Mrs. Hamilton’s arms. “His name’s Coco. I found him as a stray. Marico didn’t want to let me keep him at first, but he eventually agreed. He even hired a trainer, so now Coco’s the sweetest, best-behaved pup.”

Whenever Yvonne talked about Coco, her voice brimmed with affection, as if she were introducing her own child.

Any worries Mrs. Hamilton had felt before arriving vanished in an instant.

After all, she’d raised Marico herself—no one knew his temperament better than she did. If he was willing to break his own rules, that had to mean something.

“You really love Yvonne, don’t you?” Mrs. Hamilton teased, giving Marico a pointed look as she cuddled Coco. “Back when I wanted a kitten, you wouldn’t go near it for more than a minute. Every time you visited, you kept your distance, like I was contagious or something. Hmph!”

She shot Marico a mischievous glance. “But now my granddaughter-in-law gets to have a dog? Maybe I should ask if I can get a kitten again, what do you think?” She grinned, clearly enjoying herself.

“Of course you can, Grandma. Whatever you want, you should have. And if Marico objects, I’ll handle him for you.” Yvonne declared, instantly allying herself with Mrs. Hamilton.

That made Mrs. Hamilton laugh, as if she’d just gained a powerful new champion. “See? My granddaughter-in-law really does look out for me.”

Marico, busy fiddling with the smart system, didn’t chime in. Not that he could get a word in edgewise, anyway.

Jessica, undeterred, let out a wistful sigh. “I really envy you, Mrs. Hamilton.”

Her words dripped with admiration.

“Grandma, Dr. Moore—why don’t you both go relax in the living room? Dinner’s going to be a bit late tonight,” Yvonne said. They’d arrived an hour earlier than expected, and nothing was ready yet.

“No worries, I’ll give you a hand,” Jessica offered, putting down her purse and giving Yvonne a gracious smile.

“Oh, you’re a guest! There’s no way I’d let you help in the kitchen,” Yvonne replied firmly, then pulled Marico along with her.

“Didn’t you just say you didn’t need any help?” Marico teased, glancing down at her petite hand tugging on his shirt, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

“That was before Grandma arrived. Now I’m worried I won’t finish in time—please, help me?” Yvonne blinked her clear, innocent eyes at him, making it impossible for anyone to say no.
