Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 34

Yvonne wiped away her tears, her smile sweet and bright. “I love it so much. This is the room I’ve always dreamed of. Thank you, Mr. Hamilton.”

Mr. Hamilton took a slow, steady breath, his dark eyes lingering on her glowing, excited face. His voice was deep and composed. “I asked William to call in a designer, but it was a bit rushed. I’m glad you like it.”

“I really do,” she replied with genuine warmth.

“Get some rest.”

“I will.”

Their conversation had the stiff, formal air of an employer giving instructions to his assistant—polite, but distant.

After the drama that had unfolded earlier that day, Marico hadn’t insisted she stay by his side. Instead, he’d given her the freedom to breathe.

Once Yvonne had said good night to Marico, she closed the door and finally had a private moment to herself—a quiet celebration. She slipped into the bathroom for a long, soothing shower.

When she emerged, wrapped in new pajamas, she sat on the edge of her bed for nearly ten minutes, perfectly still, like a statue. Her gaze fell on the wardrobe bursting with brand new clothes.

She found herself laughing and crying all at once, as if she were finally shedding every tear of grievance from her past, making space for a new beginning.

Picking up her phone, she blocked and deleted every relative from the Zade family. As for her mother’s dozen or so voice messages—each nearly a minute long—Yvonne didn’t even listen. She simply replied: Since I’m an outsider, I won’t be a burden to you anymore, Mrs. Gina. Let’s just go our separate ways.

Her mother sent another voice message almost immediately. Yvonne deleted and blocked her, too—along with every other contact number.

She had escaped the abyss. There was no reason to look back.

It was almost half past nine. Yvonne set her phone down and went downstairs to pour herself a cup of hot water.

Her eyes were still red as she reached the staircase, only to run right into Marico—standing there with a bouquet of blush-pink roses in his hands.

He was on his way up; she was on her way down. Their eyes met, both caught off guard.

But Marico’s expression gave nothing away.

“Mr. Hamilton, you’re still up? It’s almost nine-thirty,” Yvonne said, clutching her mug, momentarily surprised before she started down the stairs again.

“I’m just about to head to bed,” Marico replied, his dark eyes steady, one hand in his pocket as he stepped up to meet her.

When he reached her, he held out the bouquet of wild pink roses. “The wedding was a bit rushed. I’ll make it up to you later.”
