Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 37

Linda slapped the proposal down on Yvonne’s desk, the papers fanning out between them.

Yvonne’s calm expression didn’t falter as she flipped through the pages, though her brows did draw together in a faint frown. “Didn’t you sign off on this?”

She remembered every detail—this business proposal, the layout, the investment follow-ups—Linda had reviewed and approved them all.

Linda’s response was a harsh bark, even louder than before. “The budget is five times what it should be! Other departments manage to do their jobs beautifully on two-thirds of what you’re asking for. Are you spending the company’s money like it grows on trees? Anyone looking at this would think you’ve got some kind of deal going with these investors, waiting for your cut. Because of your proposal, the whole department’s under suspicion. Are you trying to get us all fired?”

The barrage of accusations came so fast and furious that even Yvonne was caught off guard. She looked up, her voice steady but edged with steel. “Every single partner here was chosen according to your criteria—lowest bids, best reputation. You made the final call. Now you want to pin this on me?”

Linda’s shouting echoed through the open-plan office, colliding with the calm, sharp retorts from Yvonne.

“Come to my office. Now.” Realizing her excuses were falling apart, Linda switched to commands and swept toward her private office.

Yvonne stood, collected her things, and followed. She knew she was in the right.

Grace picked up the proposal, scanning through it with a knowing look.

“These so-called partners? All of them have connections to Linda. She’s obviously trying to skim something off the top. Now that she’s getting called out, she’s throwing Yvonne under the bus,” Nydia fumed.

“Exactly. Yvonne’s too smart for that.”
