Left alone in the room, Yvonne immediately collapsed onto the king-sized bed, rolling over before pressing her face into the soft comforter. She pounded her fist against the covers, muttering, “Yvonne, what were you thinking? Out of all the handsome men in the world, why did you have to sleep with Marico?”
After wallowing in her misery for a while, she figured enough time had passed—her colleagues had probably already gone downstairs.-
She went to the bathroom, splashed cold water on her face, then put on a mask and carefully cracked the door open.
The hallway was empty. Taking her chance, Yvonne slipped out and quietly closed the door behind her.
She avoided the elevators and took the stairs instead.
At the exit of the stairwell, Linda stood by the door, frowning as she glanced at the room Yvonne had just left.
Wait—wasn’t that the CEO’s suite?
…
Yvonne hurried up several flights of stairs. Only when she reached her own door did she swipe her keycard, slip inside, and quickly pack her things.
After loading her luggage onto the coach bus, Yvonne headed to the dining room where everyone was gathering for breakfast.
As a top-tier global conglomerate, the Hamilton Group attracted elite talent from all over. The room was filled with accomplished, beautiful women, but Yvonne was unique among them.
Her presence was like morning mist—gentle and serene, putting people at ease, yet with an air of distant, untouchable beauty.
She had barely stepped inside when the sharp-eyed Nydia spotted her and waved.
“Yvonne, over here!”
Yvonne looked over and waved back.
Suddenly, she sensed an intense gaze. She glanced sideways—right into Marico’s eyes.
Nydia, delighted by Yvonne’s rare embarrassment, only pressed further: “So I’m right, huh? You got drunk, ran into our dashing CEO, remembered you’re twenty-six and still haven’t tried the goods, and figured, why not? You made your move—who could blame Mr. Hamilton for giving in when a gorgeous woman takes the initiative? And then this morning, when I called you, it was Mr. Hamilton who answered by mistake…”
Yvonne’s face went from pink to crimson. This girl really was a mind reader!
Even so, Yvonne tried to deny it: “No—of course not! Where do you even get these wild soap opera ideas?”
Nydia just grinned, clearly unconvinced. Then she glanced up and saw Marico approaching, surrounded by a group of senior executives.
“If you won’t admit it, I’ll just ask Mr. Hamilton myself,” Nydia threatened, raising her hand and calling out, “Mr. Hamilton!”
Yvonne’s heart nearly stopped. She stared in panic at the impossibly handsome man walking toward them, nerves stretched to the breaking point.
If Nydia said a single word in front of Marico, he’d absolutely use it to put her on the spot. She was done for!
