Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 71

“Team dinner tonight?” Yvonne asked, following up on the conversation.

Grace had just filled her water bottle and was walking back to her desk. She set her glass down and replied, “We’ll probably have to reschedule. Remember that deal Linda was working on? Turns out the partner company’s got internal issues and is being investigated. The deal’s off. We need to find new partners, so… looks like we’re working late.”

“What?” Nydia had just been teasing Yvonne, but now her smirk vanished, as if thunder had just struck on a clear day.

Yvonne, on the other hand, actually felt a wave of relief. Even so, learning that all their previous work had gone to waste left her both surprised and oddly reassured.

At least they weren’t stuck collaborating with some shady company like Owen’s.

“So, we’re scrapping everything and starting over?” Yvonne asked.

“Yep,” Grace confirmed with a nod.

“Well, I still have the background checks and company profiles from last time. Maybe they’ll be useful now. Fingers crossed we find a better partner this time.” Yvonne immediately started pulling up the documents she’d saved.

“Great. Let’s meet in half an hour—our team’s handling this project,” Grace said.

“Got it.” Yvonne handed her files to Grace, then posted the digital copies in the team chat.

Nydia sighed, resigned. “All right, back to work. Let’s crush this project, then we’ll celebrate properly after.”

“And Yvonne, make sure you bring your boyfriend next time. We need to see if he passes inspection,” Nydia added, her curiosity about Yvonne’s mystery man stronger than her interest in work.

Yvonne blushed and deflected, “Let’s just focus on work first.”

With that, she threw herself into the day’s tasks—meetings, taking notes, reworking their project plan. The morning flew by.

At lunch, Yvonne joined Grace and Nydia in the staff cafeteria, ordering a hearty chicken soup to recharge.
