Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 78

“I’m fine.” Yvonne shook her head, but made no move to leave.

“Fine? Your hands are shaking! Go wait in the car, I’ll call my boyfriend and my neighbor to come down!” Nydia whipped out her phone, ready to rally the troops.

At Nydia’s words, Marico stayed silent, his expression unreadable. The depths of his dark eyes flickered with some unspoken emotion.

Yvonne turned and looked coolly at the furious man lying on the ground. “So, how do you want to settle this? Just say it straight.”

“I bought that car for forty grand, and you crashed into it. Repairs will cost at least three, and your guy here hit me. Hospital bills, emotional distress, lost wages—five grand for that. Give me eight grand, and we’ll call it even.”

The Benz owner had spotted the black Bentley and felt certain Marico wasn’t some ordinary Joe.

So he went straight for extortion.

Marico let out a cold laugh. “Eight grand? Fine. I’ll have my company’s lawyer come down and see what the courts think of attempted extortion.”

“Sure, it was my fault for bumping into your car, but you hurled insults and threatened me. That’s psychological harm, and let’s be honest—your car only has a tiny scratch. This gentleman stepped in to prevent a bigger accident. We can go through insurance, or I’ll give you eight hundred. Not a cent more.”

Yvonne was still rattled, but as soon as the guy opened his mouth asking for eight grand, her fear turned to anger. She slashed two zeros off his demand without hesitation.

The moment she said it, both Marico and Nydia turned to stare at her, surprised.

Yvonne’s face was set, her clear eyes serious and resolute.

The Benz owner nearly popped a blood vessel. “Eight hundred? What do you think I am, a beggar? This is a Mercedes, not some junk heap—you think eight hundred covers it?”

Fuming, he jumped to his feet, jabbing a finger at Yvonne and shouting a stream of curses.

Just then, as the traffic officers arrived, William appeared on the scene with two bodyguards in tow.

The sight of their group left the Benz owner feeling like he’d just tried to pick a fight with a brick wall. All the fight drained right out of him.

“Fine, eight hundred. But if anything else happens, I’m coming straight to you.”

“Write up a settlement, sign it.” Yvonne didn’t miss a beat. She grabbed paper and a pen from the car, scribbled a quick agreement, and signed it in front of the officers.

“Yvonne, why don’t you let Mr. Hamilton drive you home? Leave your car in my building’s lot—my boyfriend can fix it for you. This only happened because you were nice enough to give me a ride,” Nydia said, slipping an arm around her friend’s shoulder with a gentle squeeze.

“Come with me,” Marico offered smoothly. “William can handle your car and get it repaired.”
