Could it be...
With slightly narrowed cool eyes, she picked up her bag, got up, and said, "I'm sorry, Allison, I must leave now."
Allison was dumbfounded, "But we've only finished half of our meal!"
Ariana smiled slightly, "Something more important has come up."
"You're not going to Lambert, are you?"
Allison cast a skeptical look at Ariana, ever since she announced she was marrying Lambert, her behavior had become somewhat secretive.
Even though Vincent, this disgusting man, was indeed not worth marrying, Lambert's vileness was simply scarier. The previous trio of women was the best proof.
It was not worth jumping out of one fire pit only to fall into another.
Seeing Allison misunderstanding her, Ariana laughed, "I'm not going to see Lambert, and don't worry, I know my limits."
Ariana knew that Allison was genuinely concerned for her, but everything was too passive now, and she did not want Allison to be involved. She has already hurt her once before.
"Alright then."
Since Ariana had said so, as her friend, Allison could only choose to trust her.
Even though it was only a guess, Ariana still called home to ask Felicia.
Learning that Jane was indeed at home, the hand holding her phone clenched subconsciously.
When she headed back, it was already somewhat dark. Ariana deliberately avoided the servants' gaze and returned through the garden. But unexpectedly, near a rockery, she heard a man and a woman gasping, causing her to pause.
"Vincent, aren't you afraid of being seen here?"
