Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 472

Before Ariana could even process Lambert's words, the world seemed to spin around her. In the next instant, she found herself swept off her feet and cradled in his arms.

She froze, utterly stunned.

When her senses finally returned, her cheeks flushed crimson as she stammered, "What are you doing?"

Lambert's eyes curved with amusement, his voice laced with satisfaction. "The kids aren’t home today."

Ariana: "…" So… what exactly are you planning?

And then—there was no "then" left to question.

Lambert carried her straight into the bedroom. The sounds that followed didn’t fade until the early hours of the next morning. A few of the household staff, moving about their duties, happened to overhear the commotion. Their faces burned with embarrassment as they hurried away, hearts racing. Meanwhile, Ariana remained blissfully unaware of the flustered reactions she and Lambert had inadvertently caused.

She was deep in peaceful slumber, lost in sweet dreams.

Little did she know, by the time she woke up, the entire city would be turned upside down.

Lambert was the first to receive the news.

And the reason he knew before anyone else? Angelo had tipped him off.

Now that Angelo’s father had risen to become the mayor of the city, he held the highest authority in the region.

So it was no surprise that Angelo had caught wind of the brewing storm.

Angelo lounged on the sofa, still animatedly recounting to Lambert how various media outlets had scrambled to cover the arrest of the former mayor for corruption the previous day. A classic schadenfreude enthusiast, Angelo wore a particularly smug and mischievous expression—after all, that former mayor had been his father's political rival.

"Honestly, I wonder who’s behind this takedown," Angelo mused with glee. "Whoever it is, they did a damn good job."

Lambert remained silent.

As Angelo reveled in the other man’s misfortune, Lambert’s thoughts drifted to one person—Stefan.

He recalled the incident when Allison had nearly lost her life—and her unborn child—because of Lexi. He remembered the icy fury in Stefan’s eyes back then, a rare glimpse of his friend’s unbridled rage. To calm Ariana’s distress, Lambert had offered to help deal with Lexi.

But Stefan had later told him to stand down.

So Lambert had stepped back.

After all, avenging one’s wife wasn’t something an outsider should meddle in.

Still, he hadn’t expected Stefan to act so swiftly. In such a short time, the former mayor had been stripped of his position—though he was already nearing retirement, he hadn’t officially stepped down yet. Now, he was behind bars.

It was safe to say his future wouldn’t be pleasant.

Angelo continued, "The anti-corruption crackdown’s been intense lately. Who’d have thought that old fox would be bold enough to pull something like this under the radar?"

Seated in his executive chair, Lambert replied coolly, "Maybe he just wanted one last big score before bowing out."

Angelo chuckled darkly. "And now he’s finished. Serves him right—hahaha!"

Lambert remained deadpan. "You’re an idiot."

Angelo: "..."

The sharp-witted Angelo instantly grasped the reason behind Lambert's sudden outburst. He couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth and said, "That’s just a figure of speech, okay?"

Lambert's expression remained icy. "Not okay."

Angelo fell silent, thinking, 'Fine, you win.'

Seeing him finally subdued, Lambert lost interest in engaging further. Angelo shook his head with a hint of bitterness, but after a moment, another thought struck him. "By the way, is that Lexi woman still pestering Stefan? Hah! Now that her dear daddy’s fallen from grace, I’d say there’s an 80% chance she’ll go crawling back to that fool Stefan."

Lambert shot him a sidelong glance. Since the "fool" in question wasn’t his own son, he didn’t bother to intervene. Instead, he said coolly, "He’ll handle it himself." If a mere woman was beyond his ability to deal with, then Stefan had no business inheriting the Morris family.

Might as well hand it over to his younger brother, Jerold—currently serving time in prison.

Angelo smirked mischievously. "I wouldn’t be so sure. Lexi is textbook narcissistic. Didn’t she just harass Stefan recently? Knowing him, he probably gave her the cold shoulder. But that woman likely took it as him being jealous—proof he still cares."

Lambert had nothing to add.

Angelo had already said it all—and hit the nail on the head—so there was no point in chiming in.

But perhaps Angelo had a prophetic tongue. No sooner had their conversation ended than the office door swung open. In walked Stefan himself. Lambert remained unfazed, while Angelo arched an eyebrow in surprise. Stefan, too, seemed taken aback to see Angelo there.

His surprise, however, vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Turning to Lambert, he said, "Lambert, there’s something I need your help with."
