Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 554

He didn't want his mother to worry or feel upset.

Because hearing those words had already made him furious and heartbroken.

If Mom heard them, she'd be even more devastated! He knew those people were lying—he was certain Mom had never mistreated Alvin. Though he couldn't understand why that chubby kid would spread such vicious rumors, he was determined to stay strong.

He would protect his mother, no matter what!

Sheryl nodded and quickly went to fetch the first aid kit.

Normally, she would have reported this to Ariana, but her eyes flickered briefly, and she stayed silent.

Without a word, she grabbed the medical supplies and slowly climbed the stairs to Lucian's bedroom.

Inside, the kid was sitting on the bed, waiting for her.

Sheryl hurried over, her face filled with concern as she examined Lucian. "Dear," she said softly, "I won't tell Madam, but you must never do this again. Seeing you hurt like this... it breaks my heart."

Lucian blinked. Still young, he didn’t realize Sheryl was just trying to win his favor.

So he curved his eyes into a small smile and replied, "Okay."

Sheryl's chest tightened.

She fell silent again, carefully tending to his wounds. But when she actually saw the injuries, she froze.

Lucian's knees were covered in dark bruises, and the skin below them had been scraped raw, traces of dried blood still visible.

Her breath caught.

She was stunned that a child so young could endure such pain without crying. Any other boy his age would have been wailing by now.

Is this the difference between a wealthy young master and an ordinary child?

But that doesn’t make sense…

Shouldn’t the rich be even more pampered?

The more she thought about it, the stronger Sheryl’s desire grew. As she applied the medicine, her mind raced with fantasies—if she could have a child with Sir Lambert, it would surely be as adorable as Lucian. No, even more adorable and clever than Lucian.

After all, the genes would be superior.

Of course, if she had a child with Sir Lambert, it would be illegitimate. But still, it would be far better than being the child of a mere servant. In the future, her child wouldn’t be doomed to a life of servitude or lower-class struggles. In a wealthy family like this… even a bastard would be precious.

With practiced hands, Sheryl finished dressing Lucian’s wounds.

She even helped him change his clothes, going out of her way to win his favor.

She knew Ariana was always busy, rarely spending time with her three sons. So, she assumed Lucian couldn’t possibly be close to his mother. If she could just make him like her, then even if she couldn’t become Mrs. Stone, she could still secure a position as a favored mistress.

And if she took good care of Lucian, who’s to say she wouldn’t eventually rise to become Mrs. Stone?

After all, Lucian would need someone to look after him.

The more she dwelled on it, the more excited she became. She could hardly wait for that day to come. One thing was certain—she refused to remain a servant for the rest of her life.

Lucian had no idea what Sheryl was thinking, and even if he did, he probably wouldn’t fully understand.

But children are sensitive to the emotions of those around them.

Just like now...

Lucian couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something off about this maid Sheryl, something that made his skin crawl. His small brows furrowed slightly as he said, "You may leave now. I've already applied the medicine. I need to do my homework. And remember—not a word about this to Mother."

Sheryl was caught off guard by the abrupt dismissal, her expression momentarily darkening with displeasure.

Frowning, Lambert turned his head coolly. "What is it?"

Sheryl shrank slightly under his icy gaze. His presence was overwhelming, and she struggled to hold her ground. Her eyes darted away nervously as she murmured, "Sir... something happened to Sir Lucian..."

Lambert's brow furrowed. "Something happened?"

Gathering her courage, Sheryl nodded firmly. "Yes!" She then described the wound on Lucian's leg and how he had looked when he returned earlier.

Lambert waved a dismissive hand. "Ariana can handle it. No need to report such things to me in the future."

Most fathers would have immediately demanded to know what had happened—why their son had gotten into a fight, what the reason was, and so on.

But Lambert was different. In his eyes, boys fighting was perfectly normal. Though rare among the elite, where words were the usual weapons, Lambert himself had been the same way as a child. He saw nothing wrong with his son scrapping with others. As for reasons? In his mind, there didn’t need to be one.

If you felt like fighting, you fought.

What's the point of reporting this to him?

He's not a doctor.

Sheryl froze, clearly taken aback by Lambert's reaction. She hesitated for a moment before pressing her lips together, looking torn as she faltered, "This matter... Madam didn't handle it... I was the one who applied medicine to the child. Madam, she... she was busy in her bedroom. I didn’t dare disturb her too much."

Sheryl had thought this through.

Her claim about Madam being "busy" was, of course, a lie. On the surface, it seemed like she was making excuses for Ariana. But once Lambert went upstairs and saw that his wife was just playing video games—then recalled this so-called "busy"—

He would absolutely lose his temper on the spot!

This was the Stone family, after all. No one had ever heard of a young mistress so engrossed in gaming that she neglected her own son.

Even in an ordinary household, any husband would be furious upon finding out.
