Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 572

As usual, Lucian was getting ready to head home.

He meticulously arranged his books on the desk, his expression unusually solemn. Nearby, a certain chubby boy kept sneaking glances at him, his eyes darting over repeatedly.

Realizing that Lucian would leave if he didn’t speak up soon, the little fatty gritted his teeth and finally stepped forward. "Uh… wanna walk home together?" Ever since *that incident*, the boy had held a grudge against Lucian, convinced he’d been right all along.

But his dad had still spanked him for it!

So, naturally, he blamed Lucian.

Yet Lucian had ignored him completely, leaving the chubby kid stewing in resentment with no idea how to get back at him.

Despite his dislike, he hadn’t forgotten his father’s warning. The fear of another beating kept him from provoking Lucian outright, no matter how much he despised him. So, he bided his time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

And as luck would have it, that moment finally arrived one day!

He decided to sneak a mouse—one he’d bought just for this—into Lucian’s desk. Everyone knew mice were terrifying.

Even *he* was scared of them!

But to his shock, Lucian didn’t flinch. He just glanced at the tiny rodent before casually tossing it back onto *his* desk. The boy froze in horror. It wasn’t until Lucian scoffed, grabbed the mouse, and handed it over to the teacher that he finally snapped out of it.

By then, he was on the verge of tears.

And strangely enough, after that day, he found himself… kind of admiring Lucian.

The guy was fearless—even mice didn’t faze him.

So the class was quite curious about him and wanted to make him their leader.

Children's emotions come and go quickly, and soon enough, the chubby boy had forgotten the earlier unpleasant incident. He began seizing every opportunity to strike up conversations with Lucian, hoping to become good friends.

Lucian silently glanced at him, then picked up his backpack and headed outside. The Stone family's car was already waiting.

Seeing that Lucian was ignoring him, the little boy felt a pang of hurt. With a pitiful expression, he hurried after him, panting as he caught up. "Lucian, let's be good friends, okay? The teacher said we're all classmates and should be friends." As he spoke, he dug into his pockets and pulled out handfuls of premium chocolates and delicious candies.

Lucian frowned.

He had a strong dislike for sweets, but seeing the hopeful look in Joshua's eyes, he decided to give him a chance.

"I'll think about it," he said.

Lucian delivered the words with a deadpan expression, his face perfectly composed—just like the way his father, Lambert, looked when handling business matters. Lucian thought his dad looked incredibly cool when he did that, so he always tried to mimic his demeanor.

Sure enough, the chubby boy was instantly awed.

He nodded eagerly, beaming. "Okay!"

And just like that, the little boy happily followed Lucian as they walked toward the exit. However, just as they were about to step out of the kindergarten classroom, another classmate, Jake Harper, dashed up to Lucian and blurted out, "Lucian, come over to my house today!"

Lucian paused, caught off guard.

Jake was a classmate, but Lucian didn’t like his personality—and the feeling was mutual.

Because Lucian's grades were always just a tad higher than his, Jake couldn't stand him.

He didn’t want to go to either of their houses. All he wanted was to go home. It had been two days since he last saw his mom, and he was desperate to find out if she had returned today. So he shook his head and said firmly, "Maybe next time. I need to get home."

Without another word, Lucian turned and walked away.

Jake’s face flushed red with embarrassment and frustration as he watched Lucian dismiss him so casually. No one had ever dared to brush him off like that before!

Anger bubbled up inside him. How dare Lucian act so ungrateful? Huffing, Jake spun on his heel and stormed off in the opposite direction.

Parents picking up their children had to go through a series of procedures before leaving. Jake had expected the family driver to collect him as usual, so he was surprised—and delighted—to see his aunt waiting for him instead. His face lit up as he dashed toward her, calling out sweetly, "Auntie!"

Irene responded with a gentle hum, but her gaze wasn’t fixed on him. Instead, she was scanning the remaining children still inside the kindergarten.

Confused, Jake tilted his head. "Auntie, aren’t we leaving?"

Irene slowly turned her attention back to him.

She studied him for a moment before asking, "Didn’t you say you and Lucian were good friends now? Why didn’t he come out with you today?"

Jake froze.

Irene pressed on, her tone light but pointed. "Did you invite him over? I told you before—you should try to befriend him." She had already spotted the Stone family’s car outside and knew Lucian hadn’t been picked up yet. Softening her voice, she added, "Go back and ask him to come to our house."

"But… but Lucian said he wanted to go home…" Jake stammered, recounting his earlier failed invitation.

Irene’s brow furrowed briefly before she smiled again, her voice smooth and reassuring. "Oh, that’s alright. There’s always next time. But since our place is on the way to his, why don’t you go ask if we can give him a ride home?"
