Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 587

Who is Irene?

How could she possibly leave so easily? She had come to see Ariana today with a purpose—otherwise, why would she be here? So Kiara’s words didn’t sway her in the slightest.

Still, the mention of "Auntie" from the girl’s lips made Irene frown slightly.

If Ariana’s mother were here, then she really couldn’t speak as freely as she wanted.

But Irene wasn’t one to back down easily. Besides, she *had* to come today—otherwise, her plan would fall through. So after a brief flicker in her eyes, she forced a faint smile and said with deliberate hesitation, "I came to see Ariana about something important… Even though her mother is here… this really can’t wait. I’ll be leaving after today."

She then shook her head with a wry smile before shifting her gaze to Lucian.

Bending down slightly, she softened her voice and coaxed, "When Auntie’s gone, if you ever miss me, just give me a call, okay?"

Lucian blinked in surprise.

He had always liked this auntie who treated him kindly, so he asked, "Where are you going?"

Noticing the reluctance in the boy’s eyes, Irene allowed a faint, almost imperceptible smile to curl at the corners of her lips. "I’m going abroad, Lucian. You must listen to your parents, understand? And… Auntie wants to apologize for what happened with your uncle’s wife last time. She was pregnant, so her emotions were unstable. We should be understanding and forgiving, right?"

Lucian’s little brow furrowed, but he stayed silent.

Clearly, he still hadn’t gotten over Madelyn’s behavior toward his mother that day.

This kid—soft on the outside, but inside, he was every bit as unyielding as Lambert. Warm in appearance, cold at heart. He hadn’t forgotten how his uncle’s wife had lashed out at his mother.

No matter the reason, he couldn’t forgive it.

Dad had told him that when he wasn't around, he had to be the man of the house and protect Mom and his little brothers.

Irene noticed that Lucian wasn't being easily swayed, and a flicker of displeasure flashed through her eyes. But she didn’t dwell on it. Instead, she quickly regained her usual gentle and poised demeanor, as if that brief moment of irritation had never existed.

As for Kiara, she wasn’t nearly as easy to fool as she appeared.

Had she not met Irene before—had she not witnessed that scene last time—she might have truly been taken in by the woman’s soft-spoken charm. But Kiara had seen it all, and now, no matter how sweet Irene’s smile looked, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something sinister behind it.

Yet she couldn’t just stop her.

What if this woman actually had something important to discuss with Sister Ariana?

Not that she could imagine any legitimate business between a homewrecker trying to break up a family and the rightful wife, but better safe than sorry. Kiara didn’t know who this woman really was. If she had professional ties with Ariana and Kiara got in the way, causing some real trouble, wouldn’t that make her the bad guy?

After a moment’s hesitation, she finally said, "Oh, is that so? Well then, Miss, please go ahead. I was just about to take Lucian upstairs anyway—shall we go together?"

Irene knew exactly what this girl was thinking.

Honestly, she couldn’t care less, but she kept her thoughts to herself and simply replied with a light laugh, "Of course, why not?"

Truth be told, Irene had already forgotten who this girl was. At first glance, she had seemed vaguely familiar, but it wasn’t until the girl introduced herself as Ariana’s cousin that it clicked. That explained the familiarity, so she didn’t bother dwelling on it further.

Little did she know, Kiara was the very girl who had interrupted her and Lambert last time.
