Lambert looked confused, "Why do you say that suddenly?"
Ariana sighed helplessly and said, "You just entered the hospital and have already fascinated the young nurse. If we were to count your female fans outside, wouldn't the number be overwhelming? However, I'm fine with it. But if it were Beverly, she would never be able to endure a lifetime's worth of jealousy."
He looked somewhat wronged, "It's not like I did it on purpose. Besides, most women are only interested in superficial appearances and the fame of the Stone family."
Although Lambert spoke lightly, he was serious about it.
Without his good looks and the honor bestowed by the Stone family, Lambert doubted that he would be as popular.
Ariana picked up a cotton swab from the table, raising her eyebrows slightly at his words, "It turns out Mr. Stone sees through all this clearly."
Lambert just smiled without commenting, gazing at the item in her hand. He reclined leisurely on the hospital bed, casually suggesting, "Wife, hurry up and apply the medicine for me. That way you'll have an excuse to touch me..."
She glared at him irritatedly, "Who told you I wanted to touch you? You better stay still, or else you won't even have someone to help you apply the medicine."
Lambert slightly raised an eyebrow but kept quiet.
As Ariana was applying the medicine, she saw his reddened burns and the bruised mark from being hit. She looked at him, deeply moved, "Does it hurt?"
Since the injury till now, Lambert has hardly complained about the pain. Had she not seen his injuries, she wouldn't have realized they were this serious.
Lambert, seeing Ariana's concerned face, his eyes darkened a bit and his tone unconsciously lowered, "It's okay, not too painful."
Ariana found the whole situation somewhat mind-boggling. Despite being the grandson of the Old Mr. Stone, Lambert was beaten like this.
As she remembered all the romantic scandals surrounding Lambert, if he got beaten like this every time, it would be a miracle that he could survive.
Lambert reached out and pinched her chin, "If you really care for me, you should hurry up and apply the medicine."
Lambert doesn't need excessive pity or compassion.
Ariana was stunned for a moment, rolled her eyes at him, and continued to apply medicine to him, yet she appeared to be in deep thought. She felt as if she had accidentally touched a sore spot of Lambert. But upon careful consideration, she couldn't figure out what it was.
After applying the medicine, Ariana tidied up the things on the table. She belatedly recalled Lambert's impending marriage with Beverly. She hesitated but decided not to ask.
Ariana noticed the time on the hospital room clock. It was already past ten in the evening. She remembered being forcibly taken away by Old Mr. Stone and it dawned on her that her parents must be worried about her.
She quickly checked her mobile phone and saw a barrage of missed calls. She made a return call and heard Georgia's voice full of anxiety.
"Ari, where are you now? Are you safe?"
Georgia's voice was a little trembling, and it was obvious that she was crying.
Haltingly, Ariana sheepishly apologized, "Mom, I'm fine, don't worry. Lambert is injured, I'm with him at the hospital."
"Lambert?" Georgia was stunned. Upon recalling how he took a knife for Ariana last time, she naturally assumed Lambert saved her.
She instantly warmed up to Lambert, "Alright, I'll tell your father who almost turned the entire city upside down."
"I'm sorry!" she apologized again.
Ariana intentionally left the explanation vague. She couldn't clarify much, it had to be this way.
After hanging up, Ariana cast her gaze at Lambert, who was changing into the new clothes prepared by the nurse. Finding Ariana staring at him blankly, Lambert raised his eyebrows and teased, "Do you want to keep looking?"
