He walked to the kitchen and asked, "What would you like to drink?"
Ariana halted, looking at him somewhat guardedly, she declined, "No thank you, I'm not thirsty."
Lambert couldn't help but chuckle. How could he not know what Ariana was worried about? He didn't bring it up though, and poured himself a cup of water.
Seeing him not press further, Ariana began to look around the place.
She never would have guessed by looking at Lambert with his carefree demeanor, that his place would be so neat. And despite the numerous women Lambert was known to entertain, surprisingly, there was not a trace of feminine touch here.
From the corner of her eye, she suddenly saw Lambert beginning to unbutton his shirt. Startled, Ariana took several steps back, looking at him in surprise,
"You... What are you doing?"
"In response to her question, Lambert looked at her as if she were asking a rather obvious question, "Taking a shower."
Ariana was taken aback, "So soon?"
She initially thought once Lambert got home, he would do something quite unusual. However, it turns out he only wanted to rest.
Lambert couldn't help but chuckle at Ariana's anxious demeanor, teasingly he asked, "Why? Are you nervous now?"
"I..." She froze, not knowing how to retort.
She took a moment to compose herself, feeling as if she had walked right into the lion's den.
Lambert didn't continue to tease her, but instead gazed at her meaningfully, then turned and walked towards the bathroom.
When Ariana saw him walk in, she took a slight sigh of relief.
She looked around the living room and pondered for a bit. She still had all kinds of doubts. A person's home often reflects their character.
Ariana sat on the sofa, then gently ran her hand over the cushion and found it quite clean with no sign of a woman's hair.
She looked all over the place but found no trace of any woman.
Logically, even if the cleaning lady did an immaculate job, she wouldn't be precise at everything.
However, she did see a lot of domestic and foreign books on the bookshelf in the living room. Just reading the titles seemed pretty dense.
Ariana noticed those books were in almost seven or eight languages, and they all had signs of being read. Remembering that Lambert was an associate professor, she felt somewhat surprised.
Only at these moments, could she believe Lambert wasn't just a pretty face.
"Click!"
At this moment, the bathroom door was opened. Lambert came out and saw Ariana gazing at the bookshelf. "What are you doing?" he asked.
She was startled and subconsciously turned around, only to see Lambert in nothing but a towel. Although the wound on his chest was still visible, it was eclipsed by his robust physique.
"You..."
Ariana turned back quickly and retorted with gritted teeth, "Why didn't you put on a shirt before coming out?"
Seeing her overreacting, Lambert smiled, "It's not good for the wound to be covered all the time, besides, this is my home. What's wrong with me being like this?"
"But...I..." Ariana was so challenged that she couldn't retort.
Lambert examined her from top to bottom with a sharp gaze, asking, "Do you wanna take a shower?"
Suddenly startled, she quickly refused, "No need!"
Lambert curved his lips into a smile. He walked straight towards Ariana and picked her up around the waist. "Then let's rest first!"
