Upon hearing the door open, Cecilia jumped as if startled, quickly turning off her phone and shoving it under the blanket.
By the time she looked up, she had already put on that pitiful, delicate smile.
"Sean, you came."
Despite her guilty conscience, Cecilia kept smiling.
Sean didn't seem to notice her unusual behavior, or perhaps he simply never considered that she could ever be up to something.
To him, Cecilia would always be that pure, kind woman who needed his protection.
When he reached her bedside, he habitually checked the readings on the monitors. "How are you feeling today?"
Cecilia softly said, "I feel fine. Just a little weak."
Sean gently tucked her in, thinking that Cecilia was always so considerate and easy to care for.
When he didn't seem intent on leaving, Cecilia thought for a moment and said, "Sean, I want to rest now. You should get back to what you're doing. You don't have to keep me company."
Sean was clearly pleased that Cecilia was always so thoughtful.
With a nod, he softly said, "Alright. Get some rest. Ring the bell if you need anything."
With that, he left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief, then immediately dug her phone out from under the blanket.
The screen was still displaying the draft she had been working on.
She was on an alternate social media account she had created some time ago, and at that moment, a single post sat in her drafts.
