Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 36

Christian's dark eyes fell on the faint flush on Annie's ear, and something in his expression softened.

"Alright." He naturally accepted the task and didn't ask for details.

A warmth spread in Annie's chest. When she handed him a handwritten list of things she needed, he took it, carefully read it, then tucked it neatly into his pocket.

Reaching out, he brushed the pad of his warm finger lightly across the tight crease between her brows and softly murmured, "Don't worry. I'll be back soon."

Annie nodded and watched as he stepped out of the ward and gently closed the door behind him.

Before leaving, he turned around and glanced through the small glass window on the door.

Inside, Annie was bent over, tucking the blanket around Irene with slow, careful movements. Her expression was gentle, and her eyes were filled with worry.

She was so petite and slender, yet she carried such a heavy burden on her shoulders.

He wished he could take it all from her and shield her under his care, but he understood her well enough to know that she didn't need it. She was strong.

After taking out his phone, Christian dialed Michael's number. "Where's William?"

On the other end of the line, Michael's expression darkened. He paused, then carefully said, "Mr. Lawson… is apparently on vacation at Mirthwaters."

The air seemed to freeze.

Christian frowned. The temperature around him seemed to drop to a chilling point as he coldly warned, "I want to see him in the hospital by 12:00 am. If he's not here, tell him not to bother coming back."

With that, he hung up.

Michael stared at his screen, sweating profusely on his forehead. He offered a silent prayer for William Lawson, currently halfway across the globe, then resigned and began dialing the number for an urgent call.

After stepping into a 24-hour convenience store near the hospital, Christian began searching for items on Annie's list. From towels and toothbrushes to personal female hygiene products, he selected everything with deep, meticulous care.
