Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 78

It was peak off-work hours, and the lobby of EVL's building was crowded with people coming and going.

Christian spotted Linda the moment she walked out of the elevator.

Linda saw him, too. She paused for a moment, then put on a professional smile as she walked toward him. "Mr. Parker," she greeted.

Christian nodded slightly in acknowledgment. His gaze shifted past her toward the elevator behind her.

"Your wife already left." Seeing his searching gaze, Linda spoke before he could ask.

His expression froze instantly. She left?

Linda watched his rare look of surprise, a hint of amusement flickering in her eyes. "Well, it looks like you're not very favored at home."

Caught off guard by her comment, Christian was momentarily speechless. It seemed that Linda was a little heartless thing.

With a wry twist of his lips, he managed a tight nod in Linda's direction. Then, he turned and left the lobby.

Christian opened the car door and sat inside. The familiar leather scent wrapped around him, bringing a sense of comfort.

He pulled out his phone, intending to call Annie and ask where she had run off to.

The screen lit up, and a single unread message sat at the very top. It was from Annie.

His fingertip tapped it lightly, and the message popped open. It read, "Sean forced me into his car."

The message consisted of only one short sentence, followed by a live location pin. The timestamp showed that it was sent 20 minutes ago.

Christian's phone had been on silent, as usual, so he completely missed her call for help. All the remaining warmth in the car evaporated instantly.

It was Sean again. That lingering, persistent lunatic had actually dared to lay a hand on her.

Christian believed that sending the so-called bone marrow donor abroad, thus cutting off his last hope, would force him to behave.
