Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 97

As evening settled and the city lights flickered to life, Annie arrived at the restaurant. Christian was already there waiting.

Christian wore a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, showing his firm muscles. When he saw her approaching, he stood and pulled out her chair like a gentleman.

"What are you in the mood for? Order whatever you want. Dinner's on me." Annie slid the menu over to him, her tone carrying a rare hint of boldness.

Christian chuckled softly at that, his dark eyes lighting up warmly. "Sure."

There was a hint of amusement in his tone as he said, "Since you insist on treating me, Ann, I won't refuse."

Christian addressed her by her nickname with a natural sense of ease, as though it had always been his way of calling her.

Heat bloomed across her cheeks, and a soft shiver trailed down her chest. She took a sip of water to mask it, but she still couldn't meet his eyes.

Christian took the menu, his long fingers tapping lightly against the page before he read off a few dishes without the slightest hesitation. He had only selected common dishes that weren't extravagant or overpriced.

At first, Annie didn't think much of it. But as he continued, her expression slowly gave way to quiet astonishment.

Christian had picked lemon butter salmon, which suited her fondness for flavorful food. Another dish he picked was seafood chowder, a dish she adored despite forever grumbling about the inconvenience of dealing with shellfish.

The last dish was a simple roasted asparagus salad, one of the few vegetable dishes she genuinely enjoyed.

Every single dish was something she had once mentioned in passing. Yet, he had remembered all of it.

He often did it without realizing—gently dismantling the walls she had painstakingly built around herself.

The dishes were soon served. Christian picked up his utensils to serve her some salmon. "Try it. See if it's up to your liking."

Annie popped a piece of salmon into her mouth. The buttery, tangy flavor unfolded perfectly on her tongue. "It's delicious," she praised.
