"This place is beautiful." Christina commented as soon as they stepped into the establishment. Her eyes took in the scenery and the aesthetics in front of her. It was indeed beautiful.
"I'm glad you like it." Nathan answered and pulled out a chair for her to sit when they got to their table.
He was feeling incredibly proud of himself for being able to impress her. "You know, I searched for a lot of places we can have lunch before settling down for this one. I wanted our first outing together to be memorable and I'm glad that you like it."
Christina felt deeply touched that he went through that much trouble for her. Apart from Bryce, no one has ever done something like this for her before. No one has ever gone out of their way to do something like this for her.
"That's sweet but you shouldn't have gone through this much trouble for me."
"I wanted to." He answered with a smile. "And it's not trouble if I'm doing it for you Christina. I like doing things for you."
"I'm honored." her smile only deepened as they waited to order.
"You're welcome. I figured that we'd take a break from school work and just hang out together." He passed down the menu over to her to take a look.
"So how is the project coming along? Are you done?"
He was fighting to ask her when she would wrap things up with Max but refrained from doing so. It's almost like they're joined to the hip or something He didn't want her to think that he was jealous or anything even though he was.
"We just have a few things to cover and then we'll wrap it up." She answered truthfully. "Max was supposed to come today but I told him to move the date cause we were hanging out together."
She ditched Max to be with him? Nathan didn't know why but his heart fluttered a bit when he heard that. He was important to her after all. All these while, he was thinking that Max had maybe wrapped her around his finger but it was nice to know that she thought about him too.
"Did he oppose?"
"To what?" Christina asked, lifting up her face from the menu in front of her to meet his peering gaze.
"To you spending time with me?"
"Why would he?" She asked and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Max is not that kind of person. At least, he wouldn't do that as far as I'm concerned."
Nathan shook his head. Looks like he spoke too soon. Christina was defending him again which means she was somehow taken in with him. He'd have to work extra hard to win her over to his side at this rate.
He didn't want to lose her and not that man of all people.
"Okay, let's eat." Nathan said and they went on to place their orders while chatting away. Nathan was intrigued by her and took the opportunity to learn a few things about her as well.
When she spoke about home, there was always a peaceful kind of glow in her eyes. She genuinely loves the people there and he would give anything to be a part of that love, even a tiny bit of it, if she was willing to share in the long run.
He would give anything to have her talk about him with such a beautiful glow in her eyes but he knew that he needed to take things slow.
