Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 1139

Chapter 1139

“No, no-don’t,” Sharon blurted, alarmed that he’d actually agree. “Don’t stay up. Rest. Three days is enough.” Liam stole a glance at Thomas; the latter’s expression remained unreadable, calm as ever.

In truth, one day would have sufficed-Thomas had suggested “three” to avoid arousing Sharon’s suspicion. Sharon turned back to Liam. “You told Thomas your day job is driving? That’s a shame-you’re far too good at this for that. Why not join my company as head of network security? 50,000 dollars a year, and once this is solved, I’ll help push you up the ladder. What do you think?”

Liam casually glanced at Thomas.

Sharon was poaching Thomas’s friend. If anyone else had tried that, they might have found themselves regretting it.

Liam, however, replied with mock seriousness. “My childhood dream was to be a driver. Hacking is just a hobby. I love my work. I’m not looking to change jobs.” 1

Sharon smiled, not pressing him further. “You’re so brilliant even at a hobby. It’s truly admirable. But if you ever change your mind, my door’s always open.”

“Thanks,” Liam said.

“You’re Thomas’s friend, and from now on, mine as well. If you need anything, call me.”

After some polite small talk, Liam excused himself. “I have some things to handle. Sorry, I have to go.”

“Thanks for your help,” Sharon replied.

When Liam left, she looked at the silent man beside her. “Thomas, can I ask, where did your friend come from? He’s that good and only needs three days. Who is he?”

Thomas’s eyes seemed to veil themselves in mist. “He’s just a little gifted. It’s the rankings that are inflated.”

Relief softened Sharon’s features; she looked at Thomas with a warm, grateful smile. “Either way, thanks for helping so much. Is there anything you want in return?”

Thomas had already done far more than his role required. He never seemed to care a great deal about bonuses- money held little allure for him. Sharon didn’t know what kind of reward would actually mean something to him.

He lowered his gaze, considering for a moment, then said, “After Liam gets the job done, will you go with me somewhere?”

“Where?” she asked.

“You’ll see when you get there.” 1

She trusted him and agreed without hesitation. “Okay.”

Shortly after Liam’s visit, Sharon returned to work. Not long after, Carter arrived.

“Heard your company’s secrets were leaking and you haven’t found the leak?” he asked.

“It’s not an insider. It’s a hacker,” Sharon replied.
