Dennis Williams saw what was happening right away. His face went dark, his eyes hard and angry as he zeroed in on Jordan Smith. “What did you do to Camila?”
“I didn’t do anything to her,” Jordan shot back, brow furrowed.
He never wanted to hurt Camila Davis. He just wanted her to stay, to not leave him. All he wanted now was to protect her, to take care of her. Hurting her had never even crossed his mind. Seeing her like this made him anxious and scared.
Dennis’s patience was gone. The cold energy coming off him was so intense, none of the Smith family’s bodyguards dared to get close.
“Aaron, tell the guys to stay downstairs. Don’t let Camila fall,” Dennis ordered as he strode inside. “And anyone else who tries to stop me will regret it.”
He moved so fast that the Smith family’s bodyguards barely realized what was happening until he was already past them.
“Stop him, hurry!”
But it was pointless. They couldn’t even get near him. Aaron handled everything on his own, knocking down anyone who tried to get close and clearing the way for Mr. Williams.
Dennis ran upstairs, found the room, and pushed the door open. Camila was curled up in a corner of the balcony, holding her head, looking like she was in agony.
His heart clenched so tight it hurt.
“Camila!”
He rushed to her side and gently helped her sit up. “Camila, talk to me. What hurts? Where are you feeling bad?” His voice was soft but full of worry.
“My head… it hurts… so much…” she whimpered, then started hitting her head with her fists.
Dennis had never seen her in this much pain. His face turned even grimmer. Something was really wrong.
He didn’t waste another second. He bent down, ready to pick her up and rush her to the hospital, but right as he touched her, Camila’s eyes cleared for a second. She pushed him away, panic in her voice. “What are you doing? Where are you taking me? I’m not going…”
She looked at him like he was a stranger.
Dennis froze, caught off guard. “You’re not going?” Was she serious?
He thought maybe she didn’t recognize him, so he tried again, his voice gentle. “Camila, it’s me…”
