Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1028

The elder Mr. Williams spoke up right away, his voice serious. “Your mind’s still under the effects of the medicine, and you haven’t fully recovered yet. Don’t push yourself to remember things you can’t recall. That won’t help you at all. Just let things happen naturally. Your master will make sure you get better. For now, just focus on resting and getting stronger.”

Mr. and Mrs. Davis watched their daughter with worried eyes, joining in to comfort her. “That’s right, Camila. Don’t force yourself. No matter what happens, we’ll be here for you.”

Seeing how tense they were, Camila couldn’t bear to make them worry any more. “Okay, I promise. I won’t try to force myself to remember anything.”

Then she glanced over at Mr. Williams and Dennis, her voice a little hesitant. “Can I see my daughter?”

Even if her memories were gone, just hearing the word “daughter” stirred something deep inside her chest. Somehow, she was sure she really did have a little girl, and it mattered to her more than anything.

Dennis met her gaze with so much gentleness. “Of course. I’ll head home soon to pick up a few changes of clothes for you and I’ll bring her here. But right now, why don’t you eat something first, okay?”

“Okay!” Camila nodded right away. She suddenly noticed how hungry she was, and there was no way she was letting all that delicious food go to waste. She finished her meal quickly.

After she ate, Melissa cleared the table, and everyone started getting ready to leave.

Dennis stood at her bedside to say goodbye. “I’m going to take your parents home. Wait here for me, Camila.”

“Okay.” Camila nodded, watching as they walked out the door.

Dennis and her parents got home in no time. Melissa seemed calmer now after seeing her daughter.

As soon as they stepped inside, Lillian was already waiting, bouncing on her toes.

The little girl ran up and wrapped herself around her father’s leg, looking up with big, shining eyes. “Daddy, what took you so long? Where’s Mommy? Why didn’t she come home with you?” she asked in her sweet, soft voice.

Dennis lifted her into his arms, holding her close. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about, Lillian,” he said gently. “Mommy’s sick right now. She’s getting treatment and can’t come home just yet.”
