"I get it, don't worry. I won't let the Smiths anywhere near Camila," Dennis said. He was already making plans to take Camila Davis out of the country. For now, the Smiths and anyone else wouldn't be able to reach her.
"Good. If you need any help, just call me," Sarah replied. She trusted Dennis completely and quickly hung up.
Taking Camila overseas wasn't something Dennis just thought of. There was a reason behind it. That drug, the one called G-1, had become the focus of his latest trip to the research institute. The scientists there agreed to start a new lab to study this amnesia-inducing drug, but they had one condition. Dennis had to help them secretly capture Professor Keri.
The Williams family had been powerful for generations. Their influence spread far beyond the country, and Dennis himself was someone even the highest officials paid attention to. Still, catching Professor Keri was no simple job. The people in charge wanted it done, but their networks were messy and complicated. They wanted it, but didn't have the resources. The ones who did have the power were only in it for themselves. In the end, Dennis was the only one who could really pull this off.
He didn't hesitate to agree. For one, catching Keri meant finding a cure for G-1 faster. He would have done it anyway, for Camila's sake, even if they hadn't asked. Their condition just gave him another reason to go through with it. Besides, he wanted to get Camila away from everything for a while, give her a break from all the stress and bad memories.
That night, over dinner, Dennis brought it up to Camila’s parents and to Lillian. He didn't go into all the details. "Before the amnesia, Camila was always working herself to exhaustion. She never took a break. Losing her memory isn’t a good thing, but it’s forced her to slow down. I want to take her out of the country, let her see something new, and maybe find a treatment for her amnesia."
Jerry Davis looked worried. "So, you’re going abroad for treatment? Is Mr. Williams Senior’s research not going well? I thought they were already working on the drug."
