Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1063

When Aaron first heard about it, he was shocked and honestly a little confused.

“Back home, everyone knows who you are and how much power you have. Most people would be lining up to get on your good side, not picking fights. As for people abroad, whether it’s official channels or shady groups, they’re even more afraid of crossing you.”

It made sense. Mr. Williams’s old special forces unit had a reputation overseas that was practically legendary. They were unstoppable, and just the mention of his code name, Deadman, was enough to make even the toughest players in the game nervous. He hadn’t spent long in the military, but he’d never lost a fight. He wasn’t only the brains of the team, he was a beast in action, too.

But what really set Dennis Williams apart was his expertise in psychology. Whether it was getting information out of someone or helping them heal, he made people wary. In the past, there were always a few who tried their luck and sent assassins after him. Every single time, they ended up paying a higher price. Soon enough, his name was right at the top of the underworld’s “Do Not Mess With” list.

This time, when Dennis went abroad, word got out fast. People didn’t know exactly where he was going or what he was up to, but they had a general idea. There were always little warnings and bits of misinformation put out to keep potential threats at bay. Anyone with half a brain would know to stay away.

Aaron turned things over in his mind, then glanced at Mr. Williams with a puzzled frown. “Maybe they just got cocky. It’s been a while since anyone taught them a lesson.”

Dennis didn’t answer that. Instead, he asked, “What level were the people who came after us?”

“A-level,” Aaron replied.
