Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1087

Camila Davis finally had a moment to breathe.

After just one treatment, RedFox’s leg was already feeling so much better. The pain that used to haunt him was now just a dull echo. When he came to see her again, he was all smiles and full of energy. He finally believed in her skills, so he ordered his men to treat her like an honored guest.

She was still technically under lock and key, but today, it didn’t feel like she was anyone’s prisoner.

Neither Camila nor Dennis had any idea how much chaos was brewing outside. Both of them managed to get some real rest for the first time in ages. Now that Camila was sure RedFox wasn’t going to kill her, she slept like a rock.

When she woke up, she went straight to check on RedFox.

He still looked pale and a little shaky. Losing that much poisoned blood at once would leave anyone weak, even someone as tough as him. He wobbled a bit when he walked, but for the first time, his steps weren’t full of pain. The stiffness was gone. The agony had faded. He was practically glowing with relief.

“Get a feast ready,” he said, grinning at his men. “I want the table packed. Ms. Davis deserves the best, and I could use a good meal myself.”

His guys didn’t dare drag their feet. They scattered to make it happen.

Camila took it all in stride. She knew the more RedFox saw his leg improve, the more valuable she’d become. No one wanted to mess with a miracle doctor.

Dinner was ready in no time. Camila found herself at the head of the table—RedFox’s doing, of course.

He beamed at her. “Ms. Davis, your hands are magic. I mean it. I finally believe you can fix my leg. I haven’t walked this easily in years. And that’s before you even gave me any medicine...” He trailed off, thinking about all the failed treatments he’d suffered through in the past, the pain and disappointment. He’d already given up hope. Who could’ve guessed that kidnapping someone would be the thing that finally turned his luck around?

The more he talked, the more excited he got. He was practically gushing, and everyone could see how much he admired Camila.

“RedFox, I’ve got something to report...” one of his men started, trying to bring up BlackScorpion’s earlier phone call.

RedFox cut him off right away. “Unless it’s life or death, don’t interrupt Ms. Davis while she’s eating. Let us enjoy this meal. Go on, get out of here.”

He paused, then clapped his hands together, grinning even wider. “My leg’s almost as good as new. This is worth celebrating. Ms. Davis, you have to try our barbecue. Fire up the grill in the courtyard!”

“Yes, sir!” The men scrambled to obey, one of them even holding the door open for Camila. “Right this way, Ms. Davis.”
