Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1100

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he pulled her close, holding her in a way that was all-consuming and impossibly gentle. He made her feel like she belonged right there, wrapped up in his arms, with no part of her left untouched by his tenderness.

By the time everything quieted down, only a faint trace of sunset lingered at the window.

Camila Davis was so tired she couldn’t even think about moving. She rested her head against Dennis Williams’s chest and drifted off, her body heavy and warm in his embrace.

When she finally woke up, it was already past nine.

“Hey, you’re awake?” Dennis’s deep, smooth voice sounded right beside her.

Camila yawned, her eyes still bleary as she looked up at him. “What time is it?”

It was pitch black outside. She had no idea how long she’d been asleep.

Dennis leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “Almost nine thirty. Come on, let’s get you cleaned up and grab a bite. After that, we can head out.”

That’s when Camila remembered they still had a “show” to catch tonight. The thought perked her up instantly. “Okay!”

She let Dennis carry her to the bathroom and help her wash up. Honestly, it was only fair—he was the reason she was so worn out, the marks on her skin proof of just how much he’d claimed her.

She didn’t feel bad at all about making him do the work.

Dinner was just some light millet porridge. Camila finished two bowls before nudging Dennis to go change, eager to get going. She still didn’t know exactly where they were headed, but the mystery only made her more excited.

They drove straight to the RedSpider stronghold.

When they arrived, Camila spotted Aaron and RedFox waiting, along with a stranger standing nearby.

As soon as Dennis appeared, RedFox straightened up, looking unusually polite and a little nervous. He stepped forward to report, “Everything’s set. We’re meeting them at eleven tonight.”
