Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1106

“Your life is exactly what you always wanted. You should be happy now.”

He was done. Whatever connection he’d had with this woman was completely severed. After tossing out those final words, he handed the phone back to Aaron’s guy and turned to Nathan Gates, his face unreadable. “Let’s go.”

“Yes, sir.” Nathan nodded, falling in step behind him without a second glance at Sandra. He didn’t feel sorry for her. Honestly, Sandra deserved everything that was happening to her. If she hadn’t tried to set up Ms. Davis, Dennis Williams wouldn’t have even known she existed, let alone bothered to get involved. It was all Sandra’s doing.

She was the architect of her own downfall.

Watching them walk away, Sandra’s panic hit hard. She scrambled to her feet, desperate to chase after them, but the men behind her yanked her back down. She screamed, voice breaking with raw desperation. “Jordan, please, you can’t just leave me! How can you be so heartless? I love you! I know I messed up, but I really do love you. I wanted to spend my whole life with you… Jordan, please, don’t leave me…”

If he left her now, she knew things could only get worse. Jordan Smith was the only person who might save her.

She couldn’t let him go.

Terror crashed over her, snapping her out of any delusions. She gripped the bars like a cornered animal, begging and sobbing. But it didn’t matter how loud she cried. The man she loved just kept walking away, giving her nothing but a cold, indifferent back. Not once did he look back.

Jordan’s heart was a knot of anger and disgust. He didn’t even want to look at her, as if even glancing her way would contaminate him.

After they left, Aaron’s men reported back. Aaron just gave a cold laugh. “What a piece of work. Used to treat Ms. Davis like dirt, teaming up with his mistress. Now he won’t even help his so-called first love. Jordan Smith really is cold-blooded.”

He didn’t dwell on it. “While Sandra’s still shaken up, press her about who’s really behind all this. If you have to get rough, so be it. Just don’t let her die before she talks.”

“Understood.”
