Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1125

Professor Keri’s men, the ones he’d stationed here in advance, were already taken care of. Now they were sprawled on the ground, unconscious, maybe worse.

“Who are you people? How did you even get in here?” Keri’s face went pale as he spoke. This was his turf. He couldn’t wrap his head around how so many strangers had slipped in without anyone noticing.

Just then, a man with Asian features stepped out from behind the armed group. He wore a relaxed smile, his eyes fixed on Keri. Aaron looked almost amused as he said, “Professor Keri, you should stop struggling. This church isn’t your safe haven anymore. We’ve got the place surrounded, inside and out. There’s no way out for you.”

Keri wasn’t just anyone. He was smart, sharp, and he’d managed to stay hidden for years. Even now, facing all these armed men, he didn’t flinch. He kept his cool, looking Aaron up and down. “Are you from Estonia? As far as I know, we’ve never had any problems. Why are you doing this?”

Aaron’s smile faded a bit. “We didn’t have an issue before. Now we do. And it’s a pretty big one. It’s taken us a lot to catch you.”

Back when Mr. Williams had finished checking out the area, he was the first to call it. He said this church was Keri’s hideout. Aaron had doubted it at first. Keri was way too careful to hole up somewhere so public, right in the middle of the city. Wouldn’t that just make him easier to find? But Aaron trusted Williams, so he came to see for himself, pretending to be a client interested in booking a wedding here.

That’s when he noticed things were off. The church wasn’t built like a normal Western church. There was something different about it, a mix of styles. Part of it looked like a courtyard straight out of Verlancia. Christianity and Islam—two very different worlds—had collided in the architecture. It was strange, almost jarring.
