Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 205

Henry responded quickly, “I checked. It’s definitely not us! I already spoke with the guys in R&D. That system is way out of our league right now—it’s just too complicated for us to pull off…”

“That’s impossible!”

Sandra Taylor still refused to believe there wasn’t some hidden connection. Groups like The Smith Group don’t just come out of nowhere—there’s always someone pulling strings behind the scenes.

No way she was buying that she got beaten this badly, this fast!

“Dig deeper! I want to know exactly who owns The Smith Group!” she ordered Henry.

He could tell she wasn’t about to let this go, and he wasn’t about to risk slacking off. “Yes, ma’am. I’ll do my best.”

With a respectful nod, Henry hurried out the door.

Left alone, Sandra couldn’t shake a nagging sense of unease.

Their last big system upgrade was built on the foundation Camila Davis and her team had developed—it was already cutting-edge, about as good as anything you’d find in Silicon Valley. Sandra had managed to push it a bit further using what she’d learned overseas, but there were limits, and she’d hit them.

But now, out of nowhere, The Smith Group had blown past all of that…

She was starting to worry that what used to be a solid twenty percent market share could vanish overnight.

Meanwhile, up on the top floor, Nathan Gates was giving Jordan Smith the latest update in the CEO’s office.

“Our clients are pulling their orders left and right. It’s a disaster. Not only are we losing business, but our reputation is tanking. The R&D costs alone are going to hit us hard if this keeps up.”

Jordan Smith sat at his desk, brows knit tight as he studied N.Z. Tech’s profile.

Nathan went on, “The Smith Group is no joke. They’ve only been around for a little over a month, but thanks to this one killer system, every venture capital firm in the country wants a piece of them. Industry hotshots are lining up with cash in hand just to get in on the action! Their valuation’s already broken two billion, and it’s still climbing.”
