"......"
Outside the door, Camila Davis and Walter Wilson happened to be passing by—and caught every word of the conversation.
Walter grinned. "Not bad, huh? Getting a bunch of fans just for doing your job. How does that feel?"
Camila smoothed her skirt and chuckled, "Honestly? It feels pretty great. They’re all super talented, so I guess my eye for picking people isn’t too shabby. Give them a little more experience, and they’ll be the backbone of our lab one day."
She glanced at her watch. "Come on, let’s get moving. The summit starts in two hours, and you know how traffic gets downtown. I’d rather not show up late."
Walter nodded and picked up the pace.
As soon as they stepped outside, their driver was already waiting at the curb. They hopped in and headed straight for the convention center.
Sure enough, just as Camila predicted, the streets outside the venue were completely jammed. By the time they made it inside, they were already running late.
Today’s summit was massive—hundreds of companies from all over the country, media everywhere, the whole scene buzzing with energy.
Walter knew Camila wasn’t a huge fan of these big events, so the moment they walked in, he steered her away from the crowds and toward their seats.
What he didn’t expect was how much of a spotlight ‘miracle’ had at this summit.
The organizers had put their seats right in the front row, dead center.
The moment they sat down, they could feel hundreds of eyes turning their way.
Camila instantly understood what it meant to be the center of attention. Her nerves started to buzz. She leaned over to Walter and whispered, “Did we... sit in the wrong spot?”
Walter looked puzzled and stood up to double-check. "Nope, this is us."
"Mr. Wilson, Ms. Davis, I’m from SilverLeaf Industries. It’s an honor to finally meet you both in person. Hope we can stay in touch!"
"Ms. Davis, I’m with Starlight Innovations. Your system is truly impressive—everyone in the industry is talking about it. We at The Smith Group have been working on similar projects for years, but nothing quite on your level. Maybe we can collaborate sometime?"
"I’d heard Ms. Davis was young, but I didn’t expect you to also be so charming! Honestly, you’re a role model for the next generation. Us old-timers could learn a thing or two from you..."
Within minutes, Camila was surrounded by a sea of handshakes, business cards, and eager introductions.
Just then, Jordan Smith walked in with Sandra Taylor at his side. As they entered, they paused, taking in the scene.
There was Camila, standing center stage in her navy blue pencil dress, radiating confidence and elegance—completely surrounded by a crowd of industry heavyweights. People you’d normally wait months just to get a meeting with were now lining up, eager for a chance to talk to her.
It was clear: today, Camila Davis was the star of the show.
