Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 350

She sounded so aggrieved, her voice trembling.

But the moment Sandra brought it up, Jordan Smith’s mood only got darker. He didn’t say a word, just picked up his pace toward the parking lot.

Sandra, teetering after him in her heels, started to panic. “Jordan, slow down! Wait for me—”

Trying to keep up, she twisted her ankle. “Ow!”

Her cry echoed through the lot, but Jordan didn’t even turn around.

Sandra felt a hot swell of anger, but she didn’t dare complain. Gritting her teeth, she limped after him, trying to catch up.

Meanwhile, back in the banquet hall…

Walter Wilson glanced around anxiously. Camila Davis had been gone a long time, and worry was starting to gnaw at him.

Jessica Harris noticed and tried to reassure him. “Don’t stress, Walter. Girls always take a bit longer. I’ll go check on her—”

She hadn’t finished when Mr. Thompson strolled over, grinning.

“Looking for Ms. Davis, Mr. Wilson?” he asked warmly. “She wasn’t feeling too well, so I had someone take her home. Didn’t want you to worry, so I thought I’d let you know.”

Walter blinked, surprised. “She’s not well? What happened?”

Mr. Thompson quickly explained, “Nothing serious, just a bit too much wine. She got dizzy, but she was totally lucid when she left. I’m sure she’ll be fine.”

Walter relaxed, relieved. “Thank you, Mr. Thompson. Really appreciate it.”

But Mr. Thompson felt a pang of unease. He knew exactly who’d taken Camila home—a certain someone with a little too much interest in her. He’d thought it was just harmless attention, but now… well, things were clearly more complicated. Good thing he hadn’t neglected Camila tonight. Otherwise, he’d be in trouble.

As for Camila Davis—

After leaving the party, Dennis Williams drove her home. By the time they reached her apartment, she was fast asleep, her head nestled against his shoulder.

“Ms. Davis, we’re here,” Dennis whispered, leaning down to get her attention. No response.

He tried again, gently shaking her. “Camila?”

Dennis was the picture of a gentleman—eyes only on Camila, not glancing around the room. He respected her privacy, especially here in her space.

He laid her down carefully, then turned to Susan. “Could you keep an eye on her? Maybe make her some ginger tea for the hangover when she wakes up—it’ll help with the headache.”

“Of course!” Susan smiled warmly. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her.”

Dennis smiled, gave Camila one last look, and quietly left.

Susan watched him go, curiosity flickering in her eyes. Was this the famous Dr. Williams—the one everyone talked about? He was certainly handsome—maybe even more so than Jordan Smith. And the way he treated Camila, so gentle and careful… well, the difference was clear.

With a little shake of her head, Susan thought, If Jordan can’t appreciate Camila, someone else surely will.

She set about fetching hot water and got Camila cleaned up and settled in for the night.

Out in the living room, Dennis found Lillian waiting for him. As soon as he returned, the little girl ran over and threw her arms around his leg.

“Uncle, I missed you so much!” she cried, grinning up at him.
