Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 463

Larry Adams was on the verge of tears after reading that message.

Talk about no good deed going unpunished!

He’d been bending over backwards for Dennis, worrying about him day and night, and what did Dennis do? Called him an idiot. Unbelievable!

He sighed heavily, stuffing his phone into his pocket.

How was Dennis ever going to find a wife with that attitude?

Just then, little Lillian, with her curious blue eyes, cocked her head and asked, “Mr. Adams, what’s wrong?”

Seeing the little one, Larry felt like he’d found the perfect person to vent to. He grumbled, “It’s your dad! I told him to prepare a gift, surprise your mom, you know, spice up their relationship a bit. And he called me a moron!”

Larry still looked genuinely offended.

Lillian blinked, puzzled. “What’s a moron?”

Larry knelt down to her level and explained, “It means someone whose brain isn’t working right.”

Lillian nodded solemnly, “But your brain works fine, Mr. Adams! Daddy and Mommy are never together. Giving presents is a good idea!”

Finally, someone who got it! Larry looked at her, eyes wide with hope. “You think so too, Lillian?”

“Mmhmm!” she nodded, reassuring him, “Don’t worry, Mr. Adams. Daddy always gets Mommy something, even if you don’t remind him. One time, he brought her flowers and she was really happy. She even hugged him!”

Larry’s jaw dropped. “He really gave her flowers? And a hug? When?!”

Lillian loved telling these stories. She happily recounted every sweet moment between her parents, down to the smallest detail.

Larry listened, amazed. When she finished, he patted her little shoulder and grinned, “Lillian, I’ve figured it out. You’re the real MVP here! Keep up the good work. Whether your dad gets hitched or not is all up to you!”

Lillian balled up her fist, her voice determined and high-pitched, “I’ll do my best!”

Larry couldn’t help but laugh at her seriousness. He ruffled her hair. “You’re awesome! Here—reward time!” He dumped a handful of candy into her little palms.

Lillian giggled with delight, her smile as bright as summer.

Meanwhile, Dennis Williams might have roasted his best buddy earlier, but Camila Davis’s birthday was definitely on his mind.

“Mr. Smith really spoils you. I bet Camila Davis never got this kind of treatment,” another friend added.

“Oh, please. You can’t even compare. Camila Davis never stood a chance against our Sandra!”

“I heard Mr. Smith only married her because she forced his hand,” someone whispered.

All the flattery made Sandra beam with satisfaction. She put on a show of modesty. “Oh, come on, that’s all in the past. Let’s not bring it up.”

She waved over a sales clerk. “I’ll take all of these. And could you wrap the couple’s rings separately? Thanks.”

It was obvious who those were meant for.

The clerk nearly tripped over herself in excitement. Sandra’s friends exchanged meaningful glances—so much for the rumors about Sandra falling out of favor. Jordan clearly still cherished her, or he wouldn’t be spending so lavishly.

Jealousy flickered in a few eyes. Jordan Smith really did treat his first love differently.

Sandra noticed, of course, and her heart swelled with pride. No one could take her place in Jordan’s life!

But just as she was basking in the moment, a few voices drifted in from the next room…
