Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 482

Camila Davis smiled, nodding. “You’ve got good taste.”

Dennis Williams grinned. “As long as you like it. It’s getting late—go on, get some rest.”

“Okay.” Camila hopped out of the car, gave him a little wave, and said, “Goodnight, Mr. Williams!”

“Goodnight!”

Dennis watched her head up the steps, and from the front passenger seat, Aaron couldn’t help but sigh a little inside.

Seriously? With this perfect mood tonight, Mr. Williams isn’t going to confess or anything? Just a regular old goodbye? Really??

At this rate, when on earth will Ms. Davis ever figure out how he feels? And when will Mr. Williams finally get the girl?

While Aaron was questioning the meaning of life in the car, Camila was already unlocking her front door.

Inside, Jerry Davis and Melissa George had already taken little Lillian up to bed. The only one left was Sarah Brown, dozing off on the couch.

Camila had to laugh. She tiptoed over and gave her a gentle nudge. “Sarah, why aren’t you in bed?”

Sarah blinked herself awake, yawned, and stretched. “Because I was waiting up to see how things went! Spill it, girl—how far did you two get tonight?”

Camila gave her a half-smile, eyebrow raised. “How far do you think?”

Sarah perked up, guessing excitedly, “Did you kiss?”

Camila’s cheeks instantly warmed. “You’ve got quite the imagination.”

“No way. Not even that?”

Sarah looked thoroughly disappointed, but pressed on, “So… hug? Hold hands?”

Camila shook her head.

Sarah groaned, dramatically rolling her eyes. “Not even a confession?”

Camila couldn’t help herself—she flicked Sarah on the forehead. “Confess what? Mr. Williams never said he likes me. You’re just reading way too much into this!”

Sarah’s jaw dropped. “You’re kidding. Then what did you even do all night??”

“Nothing much, really.”

Camila knew Sarah was just worried about her, so she told her the truth, plain and simple.

When she finished, Sarah looked like she couldn’t believe her ears. “So you just hung out and talked? That’s it?!”

And as for the surprise tonight, she hadn’t thought much of it, either.

Camila explained, a little embarrassed, “I asked Mr. Williams about it. He said he promised Lillian, so it wasn’t something he did just for me…”

Sarah groaned, rubbing her temples. “And you believed him?”

Camila nodded, “Why wouldn’t I?”

Sarah almost laughed out loud. She’d just realized the real problem: her best friend was totally clueless about romance.

She wanted to say more, maybe give Camila a nudge in the right direction—but then she remembered Camila had just gotten out of a marriage. She was probably still a little closed off, after what happened with Jordan Smith, that total jerk.

Maybe Camila didn’t even know what it felt like to be liked anymore…

With that, Sarah let it go. “Maybe I’m just overthinking. Ignore me, I’m being ridiculous.”

She picked up Camila’s hand, admiring the watch Dennis had given her.

The more she looked, the more envious she felt. “I’ve never even seen this watch online—it’s clearly custom made, just like that violin he gave Lillian. He’s so thoughtful.”

Sarah sighed, a little dramatically. “Mr. Williams really is one of a kind. If only I could meet a guy like that!”
