Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 486

Patrick’s face was ashen, his jaw clenched tight. He knew there was no stopping this crowd, so he quickly yelled for the house staff and security team to clear everyone out.

“You have no right to throw us out! As journalists, it’s our duty to get to the truth!”

“Eric Morris, answer us first—”

“Stop dodging, just answer the question!”

The security team stepped in, forcefully pushing the reporters back, but the crowd kept pressing in closer to Mr. Morris.

In the chaos, it wasn’t clear if it was on purpose or just an accident, but someone shoved Mr. Morris hard.

He didn’t even have time to react—he tumbled to the ground and slammed his head against the side of a car. He was out cold in an instant.

“Mr. Morris!”

Patrick’s heart nearly stopped. He rushed forward, panic all over his face.

The security guards didn’t hold back any longer, clearing the driveway as the scene devolved into total chaos.

By the time Camila Davis got the call, Mr. Morris was already en route to St. Mary’s Hospital.

She rushed over, barely catching her breath as she saw Patrick waiting outside the ER.

“How is he? Where is he hurt?” she demanded, voice tight with worry.

Patrick let out a heavy sigh. “He got worked up, and when he fell, he hit his head. The doctors say it’s a concussion. They’re not sure when he’ll wake up. We just have to wait.”

Camila’s face fell, her eyes filling with concern and anger.

“These reporters are out of control. His home address was never public—how the hell did they even find him?”

Just then, a young man pushed open the door. “They scoped out the place days in advance. This was totally organized,” he said grimly. “And the news is already everywhere online.”

This was Kyle Garcia, Patrick’s son—he’d taken his mother’s last name, and lately he’d been working with the university hospital. Patrick had called him in as backup the second things went south.

Camila pulled out her phone and scrolled through the news. Sure enough, the internet was exploding with rumors, and most people had already made up their minds.

“Knew it. Nobody’s that perfect. Eric Morris was always too good to be true…”

“God, trying to ruin someone else’s happiness just because he couldn’t have what he wanted. Disgusting.”

“I actually admired him once. What a joke.”
