Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 491

She clenched her jaw and tried to explain to Dennis Williams, “Yeah, it was chaotic, but I’ve watched the security footage. That guy was right at the edge—there were several people between him and my mentor. No matter how wild things got, there’s no way he reached Mr. Morris by accident.”

She paused, her eyes narrowing. “He clearly picked his target. He pushed Mr. Morris on purpose!”

Dennis Williams nodded, clearly believing her. He’d already heard about what went down.

He spoke in that calm, reassuring way of his, “Don’t worry. I know all of that. Those videos the reporters took? They’re all over social media. I’ve analyzed them. The way that guy was standing, there’s no way he could’ve bumped into Mr. Morris by mistake. He’s just being stubborn for now.”

He leaned back, giving her a small smile. “We’ve got the evidence. He can’t talk his way out of it. Sooner or later, he’ll confess.”

Dennis went on, “And about your mentor—word’s already gotten upstairs. The higher-ups are taking this very seriously. They ordered everyone to move fast and get this sorted, as quickly as possible. Mr. Morris’s position at the institute is rock solid. No one’s going to mess with that.”

He shot her a confident look. “As for finding out who’s behind all this… I’d say we’ll have an answer in a couple days, tops.”

Camila Davis’s fists stayed clenched, her anger barely in check. She already had a pretty good idea who the mastermind was—just needed the proof. She’d been planning to have someone drag Raymond Mitchell into the light herself, but if Dennis was already on it…

She hesitated for a moment, then decided to just say it. “Mr. Williams, I really appreciate everything you’re doing for my mentor. But… could I ask one more favor?”

Dennis didn’t seem bothered at all. “Of course. What do you need?”

She took a breath. “I need you to look into someone for me.”

“Consider it done,” Dennis replied easily. “Just tell me who.”

“His name’s Raymond Mitchell.” She quickly gave Dennis all the info she had on Mitchell, plus a brief rundown of the bad blood between him and Mr. Morris.

“He’s in Harrisburg right now, and I’m sure he’s the one pulling strings behind the scenes. But… I just can’t connect the dots with the evidence I have. I’m counting on you.”

Dennis gave a short nod, like this was no big deal. “Now that we’ve got a name, finding proof should be a piece of cake.”
