At that moment, Raymond Mitchell was fuming. He’d worked so hard to stir up trouble for Eric Morris online, only to watch it all fall apart overnight. Suddenly, Eric was back to being everyone’s favorite golden boy, the guy everybody praised. Raymond’s face darkened, his expression turning downright sinister.
He hadn’t hesitated to step into the spotlight himself this time, recording that video—he was determined to drag Eric Morris through the mud, to ruin his reputation so thoroughly that he’d never be able to scrub it clean.
Sandra Taylor had even hooked him up with The Smith Group to help fan the flames.
But then, out of nowhere, The Wilson Group swooped in!
Why the hell did Walter Wilson have to play the spoiler? Why did he have to crash the party and snuff out the whole scandal like it was nothing?
Raymond’s jaw clenched, his face turning a shade of stormy gray.
Crash!
He slammed his coffee mug so hard it shattered on the hardwood floor.
Why? Why couldn’t he ever manage to take down Eric Morris, that old fox? Why did Eric always land on his feet?
And these idiotic netizens—they were so spineless, always changing sides! Why couldn’t they just listen to him for once?
Raymond stormed around his office, smashing whatever he could get his hands on, but the faceless horde online was out of his reach.
No. This couldn’t go on. He needed another plan.
The online buzz wasn’t enough—not yet. He needed to go harder, darker. Something that would really stick.
A cold glint flickered in his eyes as an idea struck him.
Eric Morris loved to parade around like a saint, always talking about kindness and charity. But what if, right now, Raymond fabricated some rumors so vile that Eric could never recover? Say, accusing him of abusing a student back in the day, or worse—using his charity work as a cover to prey on kids from an orphanage?
If Raymond remembered correctly, Eric had donated to a ton of orphanages. That would destroy him for good.
