Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 605

Dennis Williams was rarely left speechless, but this time, he actually paused. For a few seconds, he just stood there, then let out a low, amused chuckle. “What exactly are you asking about?” he replied.

Camila Davis froze, suddenly realizing her question might’ve sounded a little… off. Her cheeks went bright red, and she started stammering, “I—I just meant, um, your shirt size? Like, what size do you wear?”

Nothing weird about that. Totally normal.

Dennis’ grin only widened, his eyes crinkling with amusement. “Planning on buying me clothes?”

The directness of his question made Camila blush even harder, but she didn’t deny it. “Well, Susan mentioned you didn’t have anything to change into this morning, so Aaron dropped some things off for you. I didn’t think about it before, but since I was out shopping with Sarah, I figured I’d grab a few things for you. The stuff in stores probably isn’t as good as your custom-tailored stuff, but if you don’t like it, you can just bring a few of your own next time.”

Dennis sounded honestly delighted. “I’ll wear whatever you pick out for me. If you bought it, I’ll love it.”

He quickly rattled off his sizes. Camila made a mental note and said, “Got it. I’ll let you get back to work, then.”

She hung up almost immediately, heart racing. When she looked up, Sarah was watching her with a sly grin.

“Wow, Camila, didn’t know you were so bold. Asking about his size right off the bat…”

Camila glared at her. “Oh, come on! It’s your fault!”

“My fault? I just said to ask for his measurements—didn’t say you should skip any details! But hey, if you two are gonna be a couple, it’s not a big deal, right?”

Sarah kept teasing, making Camila want to smack her. “Shut it,” she muttered, and turned away, handing Dennis’ sizes to the sales assistant.

They quickly bought Dennis his new clothes, then picked up a few things for Camila’s mentor and her parents back home. By the time they finished, it was already dark.

It was way too late to start dinner at home, so they just grabbed burgers and fries at a local diner. When they were done, Sarah tagged along to see Camila’s new place.

After the tour, Sarah couldn’t stop gushing. “Mr. Williams is just not like other guys. He thinks of everything! How could you not fall for a guy like that?”

Then she suddenly remembered something and asked, “Wait, now that you’re with Mr. Williams, does that mean you can’t come to the gala with me anymore?”

Camila shot her a look. “Seriously? You think I’d bail on you just because I’m dating someone? I promised I’d go, and I keep my promises. Don’t worry.”

Sarah finally relaxed. “Good! That’s what I wanted to hear.”
