Brian Adams grinned. “Of course! No problem at all!”
Camila Davis and Sarah Brown exchanged uneasy looks. Did he really just say that? This guy, Brian Adams, was so arrogant! And from the way he spoke, it was clear he didn’t care about Larry Adams at all.
Neither of them had expected Larry to be so out of place here in Cabinda. It left a bitter taste in their mouths.
But Larry just smirked, completely unfazed, and turned to Jonathan Allen. “So, what—you’re not taking my offer? You want to keep this up?”
Jonathan scoffed. “Who the hell do you think you are? You think you can tell me what to do?”
He waved at his bodyguards, growing impatient. “What are you standing around for? Break this busybody’s hand!”
Wasting no more time, Jonathan strode towards Camila, aiming to grab her wrist. Camila and Sarah instinctively stepped back in alarm.
Larry’s eyes darkened. Without hesitation, he stepped in front of the two girls and delivered a swift roundhouse kick to the two bodyguards rushing him.
Neither of the hired muscle had expected the seemingly mild, bookish Larry to fight like this. Caught completely off guard, they went flying across the room.
Jonathan, with his back turned, had no idea what just happened. Hearing the shouts and crashes, he thought Larry was the one being roughed up. He allowed himself a smug little grin, thinking he’d have Camila on his arm in no time.
But barely a second later, Larry was already behind him. Before Jonathan could react, Larry landed a solid kick to his lower back.
“Argh—” Jonathan howled, face-planting onto the floor. He barely had time to get angry before Larry pressed a foot on his back, pinning him down so hard he couldn’t even crawl away.
It all happened in a matter of seconds.
For a moment, everyone just stared, thinking they must have imagined it. But when they saw Jonathan Allen, of all people, pinned under Larry’s foot, the whole party erupted.
“Holy crap, did he really just do that?”
“I totally underestimated him.”
“Even Brian Adams didn’t want to mess with Jonathan, and this guy just decked him!”
“Larry Adams is totally screwed now.”
A few people even seemed to be enjoying the show.
Jonathan was fuming—humiliated and furious. “Larry Adams, you son of a—! You think you can get away with this? Are you out of your mind?”
Everyone seemed eager for drama—nobody cared if things got ugly.
The only people who seemed genuinely disturbed were Cynthia Lee and Natalie Morris.
Natalie couldn’t help but whisper, “Larry’s always been so low-key and patient. Why is he suddenly making a scene to protect those two? He really stomped Jonathan Allen into the ground. This is wild.”
“You think… it’s because of Mr. Williams? Is that why he’s so bold, protecting them like this?”
At that, Cynthia clenched her fists, eyes darkening. Was Camila Davis really that special? Special enough that even her oldest friend would risk everything for her?
Just then, as Cynthia’s expression grew stormy, a commotion sounded at the entrance to the ballroom.
Those nearest the door heard someone call out, “Mr. Williams.”
The crowd instinctively parted, making way for the newcomer.
All eyes turned to the entrance. A man walked in, dressed in a sharply tailored charcoal suit. His striking features and natural confidence drew every gaze in the room. His deep-set eyes, straight nose, and thin lips were framed by gold-rimmed glasses, complete with a stylish chain—a look that somehow managed to be both refined and a little dangerous.
As he moved closer, his commanding presence seemed to ripple through the crowd, making everyone instinctively step back in awe.
