Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 615

The only person who walked in was Dennis Williams.

Everyone in the room froze, their faces painted with disbelief.

“Wait, what’s Dennis doing here tonight?”

“Yeah, I didn’t hear anything about him showing up.”

Whether it was the trust-fund guys or the debutante daughters, every single person suddenly straightened up a little, respect flickering in their eyes.

It was a stark contrast to how they’d treated Larry Adams just moments before.

A handful of girls, caught off guard, scrambled to fix their lipstick and smooth down their dresses, all trying desperately to catch Dennis’s attention.

Everyone in their social circle knew: Mr. Williams was no longer engaged to the Lee family—he was officially the most eligible bachelor in town.

Naturally, every single woman there let her imagination run wild.

As for the men, even if they weren’t hoping to marry into the Williams family, who wouldn’t want to get into Dennis’s good graces? A deal with him could launch their family name straight to the top of the social registry.

After all, there were plenty of powerful families in Charleston, but none quite like the Williamses. And the Williamses owed their dynasty to Dennis.

One word from him—a new business partnership, a project, even a simple favor—and your family’s status could skyrocket overnight.

But Dennis Williams didn’t even glance at any of them.

From the moment he stepped in, he kept his gaze straight ahead and walked directly over to where Camila Davis and her friends were standing.

The instant he stopped, the whole room went dead silent.

Even Jonathan Allen, who was still sprawled on the floor from earlier, shut his mouth. All that swagger he’d had before vanished in an instant, his face flickering with worry.

Everyone in Charleston’s elite knew: Larry Adams was Dennis Williams’s right-hand man, always following him around like a loyal golden retriever.

And Dennis looked out for his guy, no question. Everyone knew Dennis had personally vouched for Larry to get him into Adams Group.

Now, after Jonathan had gone head-to-head with Larry, Dennis just happened to show up...

If Larry had called in the cavalry, Jonathan was about to get eaten alive.

Dennis scanned the room, his expression as icy as a New England winter, and finally asked in a low, cool voice, “What’s going on here?”

He could tell she was hiding something.

Around them, the crowd stared in shock.

Were they seeing things? Was that really Dennis Williams? The man they knew to be all business, all the time—stoic, distant, and cold—was suddenly…soft?

Even Cynthia Lee, watching from the sidelines, clenched her fists. She’d known Dennis for years, but he’d never looked at her—or anyone—like that. With her, he was always polite, always distant. But now, looking at Camila, he was practically a different man, his blue eyes brimming with tenderness.

It was almost too much for Cynthia to bear.

Camila dropped her gaze, not wanting to air her dirty laundry in front of Dennis.

Dennis saw her reluctance and didn’t push. Instead, he turned to Sarah Brown.

Sarah wanted to speak up—Dennis was, after all, on their side—but she understood why Camila had stopped her and gritted her teeth, keeping quiet.

The silence stretched out, until finally Larry Adams broke it. He planted his foot on Jonathan Allen’s chest and looked up at Dennis.

“Dennis, this loser thought he could make a move on Camila. She told him to back off, but he didn’t listen. Said she should be grateful for his attention. When she refused, well, he decided to get physical.”
