Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 637

Cynthia Lee mulled over her father’s words, a thoughtful look on her face.

Maybe Dennis Williams chose someone like Camila Davis because she always went along with whatever he wanted.

Well, she could do that too!

She straightened up and said, “Got it, Dad.”

Nicholas Lee knew his daughter was a sharp one, so he didn’t press further. Still, he couldn’t help but feel regret over the deal they’d just lost. All that work, and someone else swooped in to snatch it away.

Frustrated, he picked up the phone and called Dennis Williams, hoping to talk things out.

But it was Aaron who answered.

“Mr. Lee! What can I do for you?” Aaron asked, playing the part even though he already knew why Nicholas was calling—he’d handled the deal himself, after all.

Nicholas didn’t beat around the bush. “Is Dennis around? There’s something I want to discuss with him—about the Lee Family’s recent project…”

Aaron let him finish before responding coolly, “Mr. Williams is tied up at the moment. I’ll let him know you called.”

From Aaron’s tone, Nicholas could tell he was being brushed off. It was obvious Dennis Williams had made up his mind to teach the Lees a lesson.

Nicholas felt a pang of frustration. Dennis was talented, sure, but was he really so cold? All those years of family ties, and none of it mattered compared to some woman? Still, with Aaron on the line, he couldn’t say much. He just forced a polite, “Alright, thanks, Aaron.”

Aaron hung up without another word.

Dennis Williams, meanwhile, couldn’t care less what the Lee Family thought of him. He had other things on his mind.

That afternoon, he left work at Smith & Co. early, picking up Camila Davis so they could go collect Lillian from school together.

When they reached the elementary school, little Lillian was already waiting by the gates, bouncing on her toes. The moment she saw them step out of the car, she bolted over, her backpack bouncing behind her.

“Daddy! Mommy!” she squealed.

Dennis scooped her up in a hug, spinning her around. Camila ruffled her hair, grinning, “How was your first day, sweetheart? Did you have fun?”

Lillian’s face lit up. “I missed you guys this morning, but after lunch it was better. The other kids are nice…”
