Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 650

She was Dennis Williams’ only cousin—his beloved Lillian. Now that she was coming back, the Williams family would definitely throw a big welcome-back dinner for her. When that happens, you need to be smart about it: step up, offer to help, and use the chance to get close to her.

If you can win over Audrey Williams, Dennis’ aunt, and uncle, you’ll leave a great impression on them too.

One way or another, with Camila Davis out of the picture for now, this is your shot.

You don’t stand much of a chance with Dennis while Camila Davis is around, so while she’s busy, you need to rally the whole Williams family to your side.

That’s the only way you’ll tip the odds in your favor.

Also, spend some time getting to know the daughters of influential military and political families. There’s no need to hang around those business circles all the time.

The Lee family already has plenty of connections in that world. We don’t need more business ties just for show.

What you need now are stronger allies.

The kind of allies who can really help the Lee family level up.

Cynthia Lee instantly understood her father’s meaning and nodded. “Got it, Dad. I’ll do exactly what you said.”

Nicholas Lee was finally satisfied with her response.

Later that evening.

Camila Davis finally finished up at the research center; it was well past ten o’clock by the time she stepped outside.

As she was leaving, she ran into her mentor and a few other senior researchers.

“Eric, your star pupil does you proud. You and Camila are always the last ones out of the lab every night,” one of them was saying, not noticing Camila had walked up.

Smiling, Camila hurried over to greet them, “Hey, Dr. Morris, Mr. Cox, Mr. Thompson—you guys are still here this late too?”

The older men turned, faces lighting up the way doting grandfathers look at their favorite grandkid.

“We were just talking about you…”

They started showering her with praise.

“Eric’s lucky to have such a talented apprentice. Out of all the new recruits, she’s head and shoulders above the rest.”

“Absolutely, her skills keep surprising me.”

Eric Morris tried to play it cool, but he was obviously beaming with pride. “Alright, enough with the compliments—Camila still has plenty to learn.”

He said it with a humble smile, but his eyes sparkled with pride.

Camila hesitated, cheeks turning a little pink. “No, he’s been busy too—we haven’t seen each other in days. Wait, you know about me and… him?”

She had a feeling Dr. Morris was well aware who “he” was.

Eric smiled mysteriously. “I’ve got eyes and ears all over Boston. I suspected something was up long ago.”

His tone was gentle, not at all disapproving. “Bring him by to meet me sometime. I’d like to size him up myself. We’ve met before, but never properly.”

Camila blushed a little more but nodded obediently. “Okay.”

Eric didn’t press further and soon went inside.

Camila, feeling light-hearted, made her way home.

As she reached her front door, Dennis Williams was just pulling into the driveway. They bumped into each other in the moonlit yard.

He was dressed in a sharp, tailored suit, diamond cufflinks glinting at his wrists—clearly just back from some high-profile event.

Under the moonlight, his features looked more handsome than ever—those deep-set eyes, the slight flush at the corners, the way he smiled that half-smile that always made her heart race.

“Looks like I picked the perfect time to come by,” Dennis rumbled, opening his arms.

Camila laughed, jogging over to throw herself into his embrace. “What are you doing here this late?”
