Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 665

Just as Camila Davis was starting to feel a little confused, she suddenly felt a strong pull—almost like gravity itself—drawing her closer to him.

Before she could react, she found herself straddling Dennis Williams’s lap. His kiss came down on her—warm, intoxicating, tasting faintly of bourbon and honey.

Cool liquor passed between their lips, and his hands gripped her waist, holding her close, refusing to let her go.

Camila felt like she was really getting tipsy this time. Otherwise, why did her mind go completely blank? It was like she’d stepped off the edge of a cloud—her whole soul felt light, as if it could just float away.

That weightless sensation made her a little nervous. Instinctively, she reached out, clutching Dennis’s broad shoulders for balance, but she didn’t really want to push him away.

She let herself give in, lost in his kiss, letting him set the pace.

The water around them, already warm, seemed to grow hotter. Her skin tingled everywhere he touched—especially where his hand slid up under her t-shirt, his palm searing a trail along her waist.

Camila felt like her strength was draining out of her. She leaned against him, all soft and hazy, her eyes glazed over with a dreamy mist.

So close, she could feel every shift in his body. Both of them could sense how much things had changed between them.

Her heart pounded so hard it hurt, her eyelashes trembling, her cheeks flushed bright pink.

“Camila…” Dennis’s voice was low and rough, barely more than a whisper in her ear.

She rested her head on his shoulder, turning slightly to look at him. His blue eyes were stormy, swirling with something dark and desperate—but he held himself back, just holding her tighter, not pushing for more.

Even so, the way he looked at her made Camila shiver all over, as if his gaze could burn her up from the inside.

Her panic spiked—she almost wanted to run.

But then his words slid over her like velvet, gentle and coaxing: “Hey, it’s okay, Camila. Just stay right here. Don’t be scared…”

He leaned in again.

Camila huffed, realizing he’d already planned for everything.

She grumbled for a second, then gave in with a resigned little, “Fine.”

What was done was done—no point worrying about it now.

She yawned and settled herself even more firmly in his arms.

Just as she was about to drift off, her damp hair started to bother her. She rubbed her head against his chest, mumbling, “I really don’t want to blow-dry my hair.”

Dennis looked down at her, eyes twinkling at how adorably stubborn she was. “Alright, I’ll do it for you.”

Camila let out a relieved sigh. Finally satisfied, she closed her eyes.

A few minutes later, after a quick shower and a change into fresh pajamas, the two of them curled up together, warm and clean.
