Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 675

The words hung in the air, a bit awkward and forced.

Mr. Williams Sr. didn’t look the least bit pleased after hearing them.

Anyone paying attention could see his face had darkened.

Clearly, he’d already heard about that kid bringing his daughter along to meet with clients. So flashy, it was like they wanted to put on a show for the whole neighborhood.

Mr. Williams Sr. just couldn’t believe it wasn’t intentional.

He hadn’t planned to bring this up today—he was just here to enjoy a little fresh air and check in on his granddaughter’s welcome dinner.

Charlotte Kelly hadn’t expected Cynthia Lee to suddenly spill the beans like that. She shot Cynthia a sharp look, then quickly changed the subject, turning to Mr. Williams Sr.

“Dad, take a look at this,” she said warmly. “It’s a display I had made—a model of every birthday gift you’ve given Audrey since she was a baby. I had them recreated and arranged by year. Did I get the order right?”

With that, she effortlessly shifted Mr. Williams Sr.’s attention to Audrey Williams.

His mood eased considerably, and before long, Charlotte had led him off to admire the model collection.

Cynthia Lee stood frozen, her hands clenched into tight fists, bitter frustration simmering inside her.

She hadn’t expected Mr. Williams Sr. to brush the whole thing off so easily. After all, that was someone else’s daughter. How could he just let some outsider muddy the Williams family line?

Cynthia fumed, but she knew better than to let her feelings show too much. She forced herself to stay quiet, plotting to bring up Camila Davis and her daughter again at the next opportunity.

But Charlotte Kelly seemed to see right through her. For the rest of the evening, Charlotte never gave Cynthia a chance to stir up trouble with Mr. Williams Sr.

Later, after making sure the dinner was running smoothly, Charlotte decided it was time to take her father-in-law home.

Cynthia, realizing she’d gotten nowhere all day, felt another wave of irritation. Was she really going to let this chance slip right through her fingers?

No way.

The next morning, bright and early—

Dennis Williams had breakfast with Camila Davis and Lillian, then got ready to head out.

Before leaving, he lingered for a moment with Camila, murmuring, “I might not make it back tonight, so don’t wait up for me.”

“Alright,” Camila replied, having already known he’d be picking up Lillian later—and that there was a family dinner on the schedule.

She nodded and reminded him, “Don’t drink too much tonight, take the meds I gave you, and if anything comes up, just call me.”

Dennis nodded, then asked, “Any plans for today?”

Camila answered honestly, “Walter Wilson is bringing his team over today. We’re all going out for dinner tonight.”

Dennis raised his eyebrows, a thoughtful look crossing his face.
