Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 676

A couple of seconds passed before she finally asked, “Did you book the restaurant for dinner yet?”

Camila Davis shook her head. “Not yet. I figured I'd do it in a bit.”

Dennis Williams’ tone was gentle. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll just have Aaron take care of it for you. When the time comes, you just grab everyone and head over. He knows the best spots in town—way better than we do.”

Camila laughed, seeing the logic in that. “Alright, I’ll leave it to Aaron then—spares me from my usual decision paralysis.”

“Good. It's getting late, I need to run. Call me if anything comes up.”

“Will do.”

After walking Dennis to the door, Camila started getting herself ready to head out as well.

That morning, Dennis had a meeting at The Smith Group. Once he wrapped things up, he went straight to the airport to pick up his sister, Audrey.

He and Aaron arrived to find the elder Mr. Williams and Charlotte Kelly had already gotten there. But there was someone else familiar standing with them.

—Cynthia Lee.

The moment Dennis spotted her, his handsome features tightened in a brief frown, but he quickly schooled his expression.

He walked up to the group with his usual calm confidence. “Grandpa, Uncle Doug, Aunt Charlotte.”

Charlotte's face lit up when she saw Dennis. “Dennis, you’re always so busy, and yet you make time for this! No wonder Audrey—and Camila—get away with murder with you spoiling them.”

Dennis’ tone softened around his family. “I wanted to come. Brown hasn’t seen Camila in ages. And Audrey’s an angel.”

The elder Mr. Williams gave a gruff snort, his tone half-mocking, half-affectionate. “I was starting to think you’d forgotten all about your dear old granddad.”

Dennis just shot him a cool glance. “Grandpa, when have I ever forgotten? Maybe your memory’s slipping, but mine’s still sharp.”

Doug and Charlotte both looked on, half-worried, half-amused.

Audrey Williams beamed, bright as the summer sun. “Don’t worry, Grandpa, I’ve got it under control!”

Charlotte feigned a scold, “Honestly, Camila, you’re a grown woman. When will you ever settle down?”

Audrey just giggled, letting go of Grandpa to hug her parents. “But I’m just so happy to see you! Besides, with you guys spoiling me, why should I grow up?”

Her parents shook their heads, but their faces were pure affection.

After hugging them, Audrey pounced on Dennis next. “Whoa, the big shot himself came to pick me up! Am I dreaming?”

Dennis, indulgent as ever, hugged her back and ruffled her hair. “No dream. I took some time out just for you. Next time, take it easy, alright? Grandpa’s tough, but he’s not unbreakable.”

The old man shot him a look. “Who are you calling fragile? I’ve been working out! I could run a marathon if I wanted!”
