Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 677

Watching him bicker playfully with his granddaughter, everyone in the room couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Audrey Williams was absolutely delighted.

But her brother’s reminder didn’t go unnoticed either, and she responded sweetly, “Got it! I’ll be more careful next time, I promise!”

She glanced around, her eyes bright. “I can’t believe how lucky I am today. I come home, and everyone I want to see is here. Does this mean I’ll get to see you more often now, big bro?”

“Yeah,” Dennis Williams nodded. “I’ll be staying in Cabinda from now on.”

Audrey clapped her hands in excitement. “That’s awesome!”

She looked genuinely happy.

Across the room, Cynthia Lee watched the scene, a hint of envy flickering in her eyes.

Sure, there were plenty of girls in Cabinda’s high society who were spoiled at home. But none of them were cherished as unconditionally as Audrey Williams—especially with Dennis Williams in the picture.

Dennis was known for his cold, distant demeanor with just about everyone. But with his family? He was gentle, patient, the complete opposite.

Cynthia tried to keep her envy in check and joined the conversation with a bright smile. “Audrey, I’m here too, you know! It’s been ages since we’ve caught up. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten about me?”

Audrey laughed, turning to her. “How could I forget you, Nancy? Just didn’t expect to see you here with the welcome party!”

Her eyes sparkled with meaning. Cynthia’s crush on Dennis hadn’t changed after all these years.

Cynthia smiled softly. “You’ve been gone so long, I really missed you. When I heard you were flying in today, I couldn’t help tagging along with Dennis and Grandpa Williams to pick you up.”

Audrey replied graciously, “Thank you, Nancy.”

Dennis, not much for small talk, interrupted, “You’ve been on a plane for hours. Hungry? Tired? Let’s get you some real food and then you can rest.”

“Sounds perfect!” Audrey agreed without hesitation.

She looped her arm through her brother’s, grinning. “Can we go to The Gilded Fork? I’m craving their signature roast and I want the strawberry mille-feuille from Opulence for dessert!”

Dennis smiled, “Whatever you want.”

Charlotte Kelly, their mother, shook her head with a resigned smile at her daughter’s spoiled antics.

That last line made Camila’s heart flutter. “I’d love that. I’m curious to meet Lillian—she sounds like your total opposite!”

Dennis saw her reply, his gaze thoughtful.

They exchanged a few more messages before wrapping up.

Camila slipped her phone back into her pocket, still smiling.

Walter Wilson, standing nearby, noticed the look on her face. There was something dark, almost stormy, in his eyes.

He knew everything about Camila’s situation in Cabinda. He knew how the city’s elite gossiped about her, calling her the Smith Family’s castoff, a single mom dragging her kid along.

But Dennis had never cared about any of that. He’d always stood by her side, making it clear to everyone that she was the only one for him.

Walter had helped her tie up loose ends at the Smith Group, handling all the business they’d planned together so she could start her new life without worries.

He’d thought there was no rush—everything in Cabinda would take time.

But now, seeing that gentle smile on her lips, he felt something heavy and uncontrollable settle in his heart.
