Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 730

After they finished their conversation, Dennis slipped an arm around Camila and asked her gently, “You had all that stuff hidden on you—why didn’t you use it when it mattered?”

Camila rubbed her nose sheepishly. “I wanted to, but I just didn’t get the chance. Everything was in my bag, and I wasn’t expecting her to go straight for a fight. I didn’t have time to react, honestly.”

Dennis paused for a moment, then nodded. “I’ll help you figure out a better solution for that.”

“Okay.”

Camila didn’t ask how he planned to fix it. She simply trusted that whatever he decided, it would work out.

The morning had gone surprisingly well—they’d accomplished almost everything they’d set out to do.

As the car eased forward, Camila glanced out the window and asked, “Are we heading home now?”

Dennis shook his head. “With Lillian out of the house for once, let’s not waste the opportunity. I’m taking you on a date.”

A gentle smile spread across Camila’s face. “In that case, I’ll follow your lead.”

Dennis took her to a private helicopter club.

It was one of his own businesses, the kind frequented by the city’s upper crust—a place with a very exclusive guest list.

When they arrived, the club had already prepared Dennis’s private helicopter.

Camila stared at the wide landing pad, taken aback by the grandeur of it all.

She was about to follow the club manager when Dennis stopped her. “Wait for me a minute. I need to change.”

“Hm?” Camila looked puzzled. “Change into what?”

She soon got her answer.

When Dennis returned, he was dressed in an impeccably tailored pilot’s uniform: black vest, crisp white shirt, fitted black trousers. His broad shoulders and narrow waist were perfectly accentuated, trading the formality of a suit for a striking, almost daring charm.

As he moved, he seemed to shed his usual restraint, exuding a raw, magnetic energy that made Camila’s heart race uncontrollably.

She had never seen Dennis dressed like this before. The look was clean, sharp, and devastatingly attractive—he radiated a confidence and masculinity that was impossible to ignore.

Dennis must have noticed the excitement in her eyes, because he stopped in front of her, slid an arm around her waist, and leaned close to whisper, “Camila, don’t look at me like that, or I might start thinking you’re inviting me for something more…”

Camila blinked, startled. “Inviting…? Inviting you for what?”

A flicker of amusement and something darker flashed in Dennis’s eyes. She didn’t realize just how much longing showed in her own gaze—a look that was impossible to resist.

The moment their eyes met, Camila caught his meaning, and a flush of embarrassment burned across her cheeks.

It was ridiculous, she thought. Why would he be the one feeling tempted? If anything, she should be the one struggling to keep her composure—he was the irresistible one here!

“Yeah, weren’t the Welches and the Robertses always on good terms?”

Someone in the know whispered, “Word is, Ms. Roberts managed to offend Mr. Williams himself.”

“What? How did she do that?”

Shock rippled through the crowd.

The Roberts family had a long-standing reputation in medicine; their alliance with the Welch family had been the talk of the town. Now, out of the blue, they’d apparently crossed Dennis Williams?

“I heard they were planning an engagement party at the end of the year. Once the marriage was official, the Robertses’ status would have soared.”

“What on earth was Ms. Roberts thinking? How could she possibly get on Mr. Williams’s bad side?”

In Cabinda, no rumor was ever just idle gossip—especially when it involved the city’s most powerful players.

Curiosity was at a fever pitch.

Everyone started tapping their networks for information. In circles like these, connections ran deep and fast.

It didn’t take long for the full story to come out.
