Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 833

Thinking of this, Camila’s heart melted. She was falling deeper and deeper for this man. Gazing at his handsome profile, she leaned in and impulsively kissed his cheek.

Dennis was looking at his phone, his long fingers tapping out a reply to a message from the elder Mr. Williams asking him to come home. He felt the soft press of her lips against his skin and paused, his gaze turning to her, a deep, questioning hum in his voice. “Hmm?”

That single sound, full of curiosity and a hint of seductive charm, was enough to make her feel helpless. It seemed that no matter what he said, it sounded like a siren’s call, making her heart itch. But she didn’t dare provoke him further. The after-effects of their passion were still very much present. If she started a fire, she would be the one left sore and exhausted.

So, she explained with perfect seriousness, “That’s your reward.”

Dennis arched an eyebrow, putting his phone down. “A reward for what?” he asked, intrigued.

Camila leaned back against him comfortably. “Sarah already told me about what’s happening with the Roberts family. I just think… you’re amazing.”

The Roberts family was undoubtedly wicked, but for years, no one had dared to challenge them. Although Lavinia had brought this on herself, the real reason for their rapid collapse was his intervention. “If you hadn’t stepped in, the Roberts family wouldn’t have fallen so quickly. They might have even gotten away with what they did with just a slap on the wrist.” To prove her point, she showed him her phone.

Dennis glanced at the screen, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. “Some of those people may have been influenced by me,” he said slowly, “but some were influenced by you.”

“What do you mean?” Camila didn’t believe she had that kind of power.

“Last night, the Sanders family, Mr. Parsons, Mrs. Molly… they all stood up for you. Their support was obvious. Anyone at that party with eyes could see it. They won’t dare to cross you easily in the future. As for the Roberts family, who are already on their way out, they were more than happy to do you a favor by cutting ties with them.”

Camila shook her head. “That’s all because you and my master were backing me up. On my own, I could never have done that.”

Dennis accepted her explanation with a smile. He tightened his arm around her, his voice a seductive whisper. “Then how about another reward?”

Camila was happy to oblige. She leaned in and kissed his other cheek.

He held her by the waist, clearly unsatisfied. “That’s it?”

Camila pressed her lips together and decisively put some distance between them. “My back hurts. I don’t want to suffer again.” She even tried to squirm away.

*It’s noon! Time for lunch! Why aren’t you replying?*

*It’s afternoon now. Are you there? Just say something! Have you been kidnapped?*

*This is weird. You’ve never gone this long without messaging me back. What are you up to?*

Then, instead of text, there was a record of a twenty-second voice call. After that, Camila saw a series of nosebleed emojis from Sarah.

*Mr. Williams just told me you’re still not awake. Why aren’t you awake at this hour?*

*He also said you were tired out last night. Tired how? Is it the kind of tired I’m thinking of???*

The messages were practically vibrating with excitement and gossip. After a long pause, during which she must have been trying to calm down, Sarah sent a smoking emoji followed by a contented one.
