Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 845

Camila’s heart was still pounding in her chest from the shock. It wasn’t until she saw Dennis’s face that a sense of calm washed over her. “Dennis, you’re here.”

As she steadied herself, Dennis looked at her with concern. “Are you okay?”

Camila nodded. “I’m fine.” She hadn’t been hurt. She quickly turned her attention to her mother. “Mom, are you all right?”

Melissa just waved her hand dismissively, but the strain of her outburst had clearly aggravated her back injury. Her face was pale with pain.

Jerry rushed over and took his wife from Dennis’s arms, his voice filled with heartache. “Honestly, why did you have to get so worked up? Don’t you care about your own body?”

Melissa, still fuming but in too much pain to speak, could only grimace.

Seeing this, Camila’s hands began to tremble—half from anger, half from fear for her mother.

Dennis saw it all. He gave Larry a heavy look. “What happened?”

Larry knew Dennis was there to take control. He quickly recounted the entire incident without leaving out a single detail.

As he listened, Dennis’s eyes grew cold, his gaze sweeping over the three Smiths who were now being blocked by Aaron and other bodyguards. Barbara was still fuming, her face contorted with rage.

An icy chill settled in Dennis’s eyes. He turned his attention back to Camila and instructed Larry, “Help take her mother inside to rest. I’ll handle this.”

“Alright, it’s all yours.” Larry nodded. With Dennis here, he knew everything would be taken care of. He joined Jerry in helping Melissa back into the room. “Camila, let’s go inside. You don’t need to worry about anything out here.”

But Melissa was worried her daughter would be at a disadvantage. Before she left, she clutched Dennis’s arm. “Dennis, don’t let anyone bully Camila anymore.”

Her words drew a clear line in the sand. In her eyes, Dennis was family.

The realization hit Jordan hard, and his expression darkened.

“Don’t worry,” Dennis assured her gently. “No one will ever bully Camila.”

Jordan quickly regained his composure. Even from his wheelchair, his gaze was sharp as he stared down Dennis. A flicker of irritation crossed his face as he watched Camila lean on another man with such complete trust. He couldn’t stand the sight of it. Camila was supposed to be his wife. He should be the one standing by her side.

Just as Jordan was about to speak, Dennis beat him to it.

He gave a crisp order to his subordinate. “Aaron, get a lawyer over here. Have them handle everything—the assault, the compensation, all of it. Gather all the evidence. Also, since the Smiths are so eager to see the child, we’ll let them. Send the lawyer a copy of Camila’s divorce agreement. Have them review the terms and the current situation to determine their legal visitation rights—how many times a year, all by the book. We won’t stand in their way.”

Sarah was stunned. She couldn’t believe Dennis would agree to let the Smiths have visitation rights. She opened her mouth to object but didn’t know what to say.

Camila, too, was taken aback. She didn’t want them anywhere near her child. If she had her way, Lillian would never see them again in her life. She instinctively wanted to refuse, but she bit her tongue.

She had to trust Dennis. He always thought things through. He had a reason for doing this.
