Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 86

"Who's the new girl? Never seen her before."

"No idea, but wow, she's gorgeous. Can't believe I didn't notice her at all before..."

"Pfft, isn't this the same 'washed-up housewife' you guys were talking about earlier? You called that face washed-up?"

"What? That’s Mrs. Smith?!"

All at once, the awestruck stares turned to shock.

Some people couldn't help but shift their gazes between Camila Davis and Sandra Taylor, sizing them up.

Honestly, Mrs. Smith was every bit as stunning as Sandra Taylor—maybe even more so.

If she’s not the frumpy wife we thought, then why is Mr. Smith always out and about with someone else?

Some folks started looking at the trio with thinly veiled curiosity and a hint of mischief.

Sandra Taylor felt the shift immediately, her expression almost cracking. She shot a quick glance at Jordan Smith, hoping to read some reassurance in his eyes.

But that only made things worse. Jordan was staring at Camila Davis—really staring, with a look that held a flicker of surprise and something dangerously close to admiration.

Jealousy and panic flashed across Sandra’s face.

What’s so special about her? It’s just a little makeup and a dress. Who knows, maybe she came here just to turn heads.

And how did she even get into this exclusive event?

Lucas Smith was there, too. He’d seen his brother with Sandra Taylor earlier and had no plans to interfere—until he spotted Camila Davis.

His brows knit together. He strode over. “Who let her in here?”

Jordan snapped back to attention.

Sandra managed to plaster on a pleasant smile, but her eyes glittered coldly. “I was surprised too. Tonight’s invitations were nearly impossible to get—The Smith Group only got three! Oh, and just earlier, Jordan’s invite went missing... unless—”

She silently cursed her bad luck and kept her expression cool.

But Lucas jumped right in, not bothering to hide his hostility. “Camila Davis, who said you could be here? Do you even know what kind of party this is? You really had the guts to use a stolen invitation at Ms. Harris’s cocktail event?”

Camila stared at him, utterly confused.

When did she ever steal an invitation? This guy was as clueless as ever.

She didn’t bother to play nice. “Who let this rabid dog in? You barge up and start biting without a clue?”

Her elegance tonight only made her words sting more.

Lucas’s face turned frosty. “You’re saying you didn’t steal it? Then what gives you the right to be here? Don’t tell me Ms. Harris actually invited you.”

Camila looked him dead in the eye. “And what if she did?”

“You?” Lucas scoffed, full of contempt. “You probably don’t even know the first thing about the Harris family, do you? Camila, maybe it’s time for a reality check. If you can’t help Jordan in business, maybe just stick to looking after the kids at home…”
