Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 90

Jordan Smith’s eyes darkened at the words.

He’d heard Sandra mention before that Camila Davis and Walter Wilson seemed unusually close, but he never expected Walter to actually bring Camila to an event like this.

And that platinum credit card? It actually belonged to Walter Wilson?

Lucas Smith and Sandra Taylor, standing beside him, were just as stunned—and judging by the looks on their faces, so were the other guests nearby.

“Wait, Mr. Wilson’s here too?”

“He just said Mrs. Smith is his business partner? So she didn’t just tag along after all.”

“If she’s Mr. Wilson’s partner, she must be seriously impressive.”

In Harrisburg, Walter Wilson was known for being a bit of a maverick—low-key, hard to get close to, but no one dared question his influence.

Camila Davis was already tired of the stuffy atmosphere. When she spotted Walter Wilson, she cut straight to the point. “You made it?”

“Yeah,” Walter replied with a nod, eyeing her with concern. “You okay?”

He’d just arrived, so he hadn’t caught what happened, but he could guess she’d had a rough time.

Camila shook her head, brushing it off. “No big deal. Just a couple of rabid dogs, not worth my time. Let’s stick to business and get this over with.”

Without sparing another glance at the people in front of her, she strode over to a quiet corner.

Walter hurried after her, not bothering to exchange barbs with Jordan Smith. “Sorry, I should’ve checked if they’d be here…”

“It’s not your fault,” Camila said, waving it off. She didn’t want to dwell on what just happened, and she certainly didn’t blame Walter. Even knowing Jordan and the others were here, she wouldn’t have turned down this opportunity.

Still, she wanted to get the work done and leave as soon as possible.

“So, tell me about the project we’re discussing tonight—before Ms. Harris arrives.”

Sandra nodded, realization dawning. No wonder Camila showed up! So she was a competitor tonight?

The thought made Sandra’s lip curl in disdain. What did Camila have that could possibly beat her?

She’d slashed costs so low she was practically giving away the farm—just to get in the Harris family’s good books. There was no way Ms. Harris would choose anyone else!

Right then, Ms. Jessica Harris made her entrance, wearing a figure-hugging dress that turned heads all around. Instantly, the guests started flocking to her.

Jessica handled the attention with ease and charm.

Sandra seized her chance, looping her arm through Jordan’s and approaching with a bright smile.

Jessica greeted them warmly. The Smith Group’s medical devices were well-known and cutting-edge in the States; naturally, their proposal was on her shortlist.

Sandra sensed the opportunity and handed over a sleek project proposal. “We’re here with a very sincere offer, Ms. Harris. Please take a careful look—you’ll find our terms more than satisfying.”
