It was, of course, Dennis Williams. He had seen from his car that the man in the other vehicle was Jordan Smith, but he hadn't thought much of it. He never expected Jordan would actually try to stop Camila. Seeing him persist, Dennis got out of the car just in time to witness the scene.
Now, Dennis held Camila tightly, his long, wool coat enveloping her and shielding her from the cold winter wind. His actions were gentle, but his handsome face was colder than the winter night itself. A dangerous light flickered in his deep eyes.
“I wasn’t aware, Mr. Smith, that you had a habit of putting your hands on other people’s loved ones. Perhaps you should see a doctor about that.”
Jordan’s expression turned frigid at Dennis's appearance. He met Dennis’s gaze, his voice equally sharp. “I have important matters to discuss with Camila. What business is it of yours? On the other hand, Mr. Williams, stealing someone’s love when their back is turned isn’t exactly a noble act.”
A surge of anger rose in Camila. What right did he have to talk to Dennis like that? She struggled to speak, but Dennis tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her even closer. His warm hand gently stroked her head, a soothing, comforting gesture.
But the words he spoke were anything but kind. “Mr. Smith’s ‘love’ is that mistress of his, isn't it? My apologies, but I have no interest in that sort of thing. I only like women like Camila. She’s sweet and utterly lovable. It’s a shame she entrusted her heart to the wrong person in the past. Fortunately for me, I found this hidden gem. I know how to cherish her, and from the day I found her, I have never intended to let her go. In fact, I should thank you, Mr. Smith, for graciously letting her go. Otherwise, I would never have met such a wonderful treasure.”
He knew exactly how to twist the knife to cause Jordan the most pain. Right in front of him, Dennis gently placed a kiss on Camila’s hair, a clear demonstration of how much he valued her. In response, Camila relaxed in his embrace, her arms wrapping around his waist.
Dennis felt her reliance on him, and his gaze softened slightly. The sight of it made Jordan’s face turn black, the image searing into his eyes. All of this should have been his! This Williams character had not only stolen his woman but was now kissing her in front of him!
